I started making money in ES when I ran into a fellow who put on limit trades for 1 point with no stops. It was amazing how long he consistently made money, I mean like three times a day everyday for a long time, before he finally blew up. I just started doing the opposite.
I made more money on one ES trade just by letting it run than I did in five years of beating my head against the wall scalping and daytrading.
it doesn't matter if you're scalping or position trading, at some ponit there is an optimum time to take a profit. And that my friend is something I never or probably ever will know.
I gave up nearly 40% of the profits from the high on my big ES trade and never regretted not getting out at the top, because it was a very good trade.
