The target has to be realistic, otherwise it would simply be an idle wish.

See if you shoot for 1 mill. you will make 500k. Did you notice how fast you were at 250k? Its all about the psychology.

  3. So if Neke shoots for a billion, he'll just end up with 500 mill?

Yeah, it's psychology and has nothing to do with position sizing, initial capital, etc...

  4. Neke,

Good to see you had a boring week, as every week should be.. the fewer highs and lows the better. If you are feeling down with this week's result then you are a gambler.

Why not focus on something.. like FSLR for example.. VERY volatile.. ALL the time.. backed with some TA, it is an absolute ATM.. Have played some Chinese but they must set up or no trading... I have a buy trigger that expired the day before the break to buy a load of CSUN at 7.55.. learning to forget missed boats quicker.. My goal wat to sell it at $9 for what I consider a grand-slam trade in a week or so.. crazy mania... that WILL end..

October is here! Surely there is some volatility coming.. Lately looks like the markets are being "controlled"!

  5. Neke, Are you a complete IDIOT?
    Your initial goal was unrealistic.
    Your Trading is completely stupid.
(Shorting BIDU) while it is on a tear.
You trade and take HUGE LOSSES.
Do you know ANYTHING about Protecting your Capital?
Protect your Capital like a mother Bear protects her cubs.

LEARN HOW to use STOPS and Cut your Losses.

You had a Greedy Unrealistic goal to begin with and you have traded Greedy.
Trade Smart, CUT YOUR LOSSES, Don't be GREEDY and DON't Swing for the fences and you may not blowout our account.

Long story short . You are trading Greedy, Stupid and when you do that with out any capital protection you will be dead soon.

  6. LOL, I swear to God, for anyone who is wondering if this is an alias of me, it isn't. :p

The trade(s) you are referring to took place two weeks ago, and Neke has stated, and continues to state, that he is trying to change his natural instincts to short the uptrends (and vice versa), averarging his losses as the position moves against him.

Personally, I believe'em ... and not only am I impressed with his trading, but also with the fact that he can apply himself to his trading while taking care of a family, that, my friends is a lot easier said than done.

He has come a long way since the beginning of the journal. I believe he will continue to evolve as a trader, as I hope we all will.

    Good trading,

  7. You would lose that bet just like you lose on your trading(since you apparently can't even grasp basic mandatory trading techniques that either lead to success or failure and what neke is doing wrong) if you believe Neke is employing a successful trading Plan.

Taking 5 digit losses is complete idiocy and a clear example of not knowing how to trade, not knowing what one is doing, or possibly not being able to cut the loss due to some psychological limitation. Chronic gamblers with a gambling problem bet in this manner.
There is no reason to allow a trading loss to build up that big. CUT the loss, use a stop. It is a clear example of not knowing what he is doing. If you don't want to believe me Read ANY book on trading and it will be spelled out pretty clearly the downfall of trading in this manner if you think I am wrong here. Are you just in denial about it or do you want to see neke fail?
Any successful trader will tell you that trading in this fashion WILL guarantee a blown out. I'd like to see him succeed but I know if he doesn't make some necessary changes very soon he will undoubtedly fail in a relatively short time.

  8. It really baffles me why the response any critic gets here is so negative... You guys are NOT helping when you see obvious problems and you say "you're still ahead". The irony of trading is an account that doubles in 2 months that continues to be trade how it got there stands a good chance to drop back down. The mindset that is created by such a gain almost dooms the trader to refuse to accept less (lower risk) in the future.. like measly a 20% a month. I know this as I am there now.. up a lot this year and get bored with small trades... I have been saved by never over-concentrating and a serious obsession with cutting losses.. If a trade is not immediately in my favor I get nervous..

  9. Normally I'd agree with you on this...but neke has been trading like this for years, and has started this thread over 7 months ago, trading with arguably much less discipline than he is now. While I'm certainly not a fan of his position sizing techniques, I still can't really call him on it (yet). People have been calling for a quick and speedy blowout since page 3.

Given that he's made approx. 1,000 trades and is up on the year by a significant amount, I'd be willing to concede that he's probably got some edge burried in the way that he trades. Now, whether his edge / strategy is excellent, and his money management actually brings down his overall results, I do not know.

There are certainly things I am doing wrong, most of which I have ackowledged (Anyone here without a fault in his/her trading? put up you hand!). Unfortunately I do not find substance on those things from most of the negative posts here. One thing that has cost me is "averaging down". My average position sizing, on the other hand, is NOT one of the things I am doing wrong. For those who think I should not stake more than 5% of my account on a single trade, I would say THANKS BUT NO THANKS. For those who feel like criticizing, I would appreciate if you do not make a personal attack on me. I am NOT an idiot. Posting on an internet forum does not confer on you the right to exhibit all the base elements in your personality.
