  1. Congrats on your performance and all but what the hell kind of strategy is this? Thought it had rallied too much? Um, ok.

    WTF?

    What kind of strategy? Fade-Exuberance strategy. One of four principal ones:

    * Buy Credible Strength
    * Sell Exuberance
    * Sell Credible Weakness
    * Buy Panic

    The devil is always in the details though.

    Wish you the best in the new year. Congrats for staying true to your methods. They obvious deliver greater returns when the market is more stable or uptrending and volatility is low.

    Hey Neke,

    Congrats on a great year! One question before we start the poll on the target for next year...

    What ever happened to the automated strategies? It seems a while back you were very focused on automating your idea's and finding patterns in your trades. I understand that most patterns went out the window in 2008 but do you plan on investing more of your time into auto trading or have you trained your eye for the setups you were looking at and will you continue to judge every trade?

    My guess is 4.2 million as next year's target.

    Best wishes and enjoy the holidays!

  7. Just started reading this thread from the begining this morning but I got excitied around page 50 and jumped to the last month. Did Neke ever get into what his day job actually is? If you can create returns like this and you love what you are doing in your day job, that sounds like a pretty good life.

    The automated stuff just weren't delivering as much as expected (pretty hard to replace me with a machine!), so had to stop them. Could have been wrecked with the extreme volatility in September/October: so in hindsight, it was the right thing to do. As long as I do not fall to rule violations and lose a bunch, I shall keep off from a rush to blanket automation.

    Hmm. Next year, we shall see when we get there.

    Merry Xmas

    Quitting the day job? I am still planning! OK I know I said somewhere I wouldn't go full-time unless I have a trading balance of $500K. In a week or so I shall mop up 170K for tax and others, leaving say 350K to begin the new year. Hopefully I can bring it back to 500K in short order. Then we go from there. Still wondering though what I shall put in my resume! May be set up a computer consulting front-end that just breaks even (and doesn't absorb much of my time), while making my income from trading in the back-ground.
