Take down confederate flag, and change street names in public places?

  1. True, but she did the right thing, so I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt.

  3. she did an absolutely legitimate thing, she also made a difficult decision under pressure, and she most likely took into account public opinion (like every politician) when she arrived at her decision, in the exact same way as the governor of Alabama and those of other states. Not sure, what the real problem is that Tsing Tao is facing. Maybe he is just a little grumpy because he disagrees.

Apparently the only part of my brain that is confused is the part that has to interact with you. The issue isn't that Haley chose to remove the flag, but that she did so only after the left made the issue suddenly about race, based on the recent tragedy. For 150 years prior to that, the issue was never about race but southern heritage.

The inability to accept any interpretation but their own, and the continuing drive to assert that decision on the rest of us is what is at the fundamental basis of the discontent.

  5. yeah, and why were civil rights enacted so late and not decades earlier? Because it was an opportune time. And why was slavery not abolished much earlier? Because the opportunity presented itself to do so at the time it was actually abolished. The list goes on and on. Yes, she was influenced by the left, shock shock. Are you happy now? Now you got your excuse to go on and hate the left even more. It is your constitutional right, just please do not act on it and shoot people.

For anything to change you need a catalyst. Something has to be put in motion. Maybe you wanna take a 101 refresher class in Physics.

    Goodness

Maybe we just need to update the design of the Confederate flag... just a few tweaks to remove the intolerance and bigotry.

The debate aside, this is a funny Chris Rock skit regarding the flag from a while ago :)

LOL you're comparing segregation and oppressive laws that caused hardship with an immovable object that was acceptable but suddenly isn't - because a crazy guy shot up a church and had the flag in his picture. So if some similar tragedy happens and the guy is crazy enough to say Bugs Bunny told him to kill everyone, do we go ahead and ban Bugs Bunny too?

Foghorn Leghorn has been known to sing and whistle Dixie, so he HAS to be racist.

  9. civil rights abuses in the South were well accepted until the National guard moved in to protect those who demanded their civil rights. During all events when Blacks were spitted at, beaten, lynched, the confederate flag was nearby. Even in 2014/2015 each time right wing extremists and nazis march through Southern towns the confederate flag is hissed. Are you seriously suggesting anyone acted upon one deluded individual?

  10. Tsing is all about freedom of expression, provided it either concurs with his own views or that no one does anything about it.

For example, I don't recall him ever once criticizing either Tgregg or Clubber Lang when they waxed poetic on the virtues of segregation. He just sat back, marveling at their glorious freedoms...
