Billionaire investor Boone Pickens sees oil price getting to $100 mark in the "worst-case" scenario. Barring even the worst case scenario, oil prices will rise to $80 a barrel within six months, Pickens predicted. Pickens bullish bets on energy have propelled him into the Forbes list of the richest Americans. http://allafrica.com/stories/200707231041.html
In a worst case scenerio there would be no gasoline available at the pump at any price, because of no supply due to some disruption - natural disaster/act of god, terror, etc etc....... In a worst case scenerio, fueltanks would be empty, millions of people would be stuck in their homes unable to go to work. And the system would grind to a halt...
And yet for some strange reason, funding and developing alternative energy is not a priority for any of the industrialized nations. What can we deduce from this piece of information?
I think horses may be a good investment for the future. One day, we'll all be living like the Amish and getting around in horse and buggy... http://www.ronsaari.com/stockImages/pennsylvania/amishBuggy.jpg
Think about the enormous complex infrastructure the oil companies have built in the last 100 years. They go 100 miles out into the Gulf of Mexico, drill down 2 miles, bring up oil, transport it to a refinery onshore, oil is refined into gasoline, pumped through a pipeline to a gathering point, trucked to a local service station and is available to the public. All of this for only $3.00/gallon???? Taxes exceed the profits on a gallon of gas!!! And, they give you a credit card to pay for it.... That is the reason no one can establish another source..... There isn't one!!!! Nothing is more efficient than gasoline...that is the simple truth... SteveD
Flying car using Maglev rotor, works on hydrogen. We'll see it after people wake up in the coming depression and the status quo changes. <a href="http://imageshack.us"><img src="http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/3218/maglevrotor1ag9.jpg" border="0" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us"/></a><br/>
I used the same analogy for Whale blubber used to light lamps. Think of all that effort, to catch the whale, slaughter it, process the blubber and distribute it. I'm sure people then made the exact same comment..... That is the reason no one can establish another source..... There isn't one!!!! Nothing is more efficient than whale blubber...that is the simple truth... Oil will go the same way as whale blubber. Within a generation or two, the cost of crude oil will be close to Zero.
