I need to simulated large loss days as I am incredibly calm and controlled the day after.. Trend definitely up but all trades short?? NQ very different from rest of markets thanks to GOOG/AAPL.. maybe CSCO report due but regardless, what I trade is strong. A long only over open filter and vice-versa may be a good idea.. The time in trade rule not realistic as some days cycles short. 1: 10... moved no stops.. not hard to do when one thinks a bit.. 3: 10... 3 trades done for day.. +3.5
Morning Prep.. Ugly morning.. Kissed 1790.. Easy to rush in short on opens like this. Hourly TL's definitely broken.. Hope to short a reversal around 1778 or 1773 (after dip to 1764?).. either way must look for a system trade.
Hope you got in. Finally broke the trendline from Friday. My system placed my entry at 69.75. Schaefer
I was thinking of you getting that as it went.. Very well planned and worked out. Need to LET GO OF WHAT I DON'T GET though as I am now thinking of the 73 short (stupid really) and the points I may leave behind today. Or man up and do 2 units (stupid also).. need consistency.. Original plan was to hold till close today being the first NQ reversal day but psychology eating me.. Since I am out I have to live with it.. must focus on what I did right, not what the perfectionist in me wants.... Good trade.. 1: 10.. funny how good trades can survive small stops.. 3: 10.. 1 trade only --- A LOT OF PRESSURE to keep trading.. +18.5 done for the day.
For me the most difficult aspect of trading is I am a perfectionist so instead of varying levels of success I see only varying levels of loss. When I lose, I see loss. When I win, I still see some loss (what I didn't get) .. could also dose of greed also.. No doubt the hard part of trading is constantly dealing with "errors" depending on how you look at them. Like trying to dredge a lake.. some sand ALWAYS goes back and always will but our job is to pick some sand each time and quit looking at the sand going back as "errors" or "mistakes".. For me I end up tipping the whole boat over and have to start all over again... like the Myth of Sisyphus Camus. Hopefully not for a whole lifetime.
Only a buy stop at 1728.5 would have caught that trade.. was looking for my long hat and missed it. talk about SQUEEEEEZE! Fastest NQ points I have seen in a while.. I know the feeling being on the wrong side of that.. Caught it Schaefer?
Nope, it was fast alright. I had my entry at 1724.25, but never came back to fill me. I did however, catch the next move, "THE WRONG WAY!!!". I was betting long from 1742.75 for the break out, but got stopped out at max stop loss of -4 points...ouch! Being Friday, I suspect the action to be range bound for the afternoon. Schaefer
