I read the article and the rebuttals. I did not completely understanding everything but I think I understood enough. There is more good than bad in the paper referenced. Is it 100% correct, perhaps not. Does this mean it is completely wrong? NO 1. Kristran G. Andersen is a Fauci fan boy. In the beginning he leaned towards a lab origin but then almost instantaneously made a 180 degree shift and invested an inordinate amount of energy into claiming that zoonotic transfer was the only explanation. You will observe his obsession again if you read the twitter comments. A bit more than I would expect from a unbiased observer. I have read some of his earlier articles. There are errors but to focus on this would be a distraction. Bottom line - Andersen is not an unbiased reference. He actually seems to have been compromised. 2. ARS - acute respiratory syndromes. In the past the match was easy - MERS - camel. SARS Cov - 1 - civet. However with SARS Cov -2 there has been absolutely no reservoir host that has even come close. FYI - This would be a mammal, living in China, bats and mammal should be in close proximity, and the most important feature is that the ACE2 receptors - tissues in the lungs - should be very close to human. 40,000 samples have been tested with not even a close match. 3. At the heart of the debate is if whether given the bat virus could a SARS CoV - 2 variant be created in a lab? If not - case closed - zoonotic. However I think the article references indicates that starting with the bat virus, SARS Cov -2 could be created in a lab. 4. A hard hurdle for zoonotic transfer is that if the virus was actually altered it would have to come about by random mutation. Random mutation is not expected to happen all at once and would take many, many, iterations. Via (3.) this has not been found. Much more could be said here. I think the lab influenced is a much stronger case. At the heart of all this is something very disturbing that I will leave unsaid.
