Start reading dude, I never wrote SF is exciting. IMO it bears a lot of similarities to Switzerland.

  8. This will be my last message, as I don't write on ET to have that kind of conversation, so don't expect any answer to your eventual reply.

I have a life, no problem on my side. I'm really sorry this doesn't seem to be your case.

  9. We had a federal vote today. One of the questions was if people here wanted the abolition of VAT and federal tax. 80% said no.

A new repartition of cantonal taxes between cantons has been voted too. Zug will have to give more of its taxes to the other cantons. The result should probably be a tax increase in Zug.

When you import to a EU country you pay the VAT of that country, EU as such do not have a common rate. The same is true for Switzerland, you pay the Swiss VAT (7.6%). I have never been charged any other import duties on computer stuff (but they might exist in some cases). On cars I know there is a 4% special tax.

I also agree with science_trader that there isn't any advantage anymore buying in the USA, prices in Switzerland are quite competitive.
