Yes, there are still numbered accounts, but you don`t need 250 K to open, many banks offer this charging an additional annual fee. But naturally the bank knows who you are, your nationality and residence -becauses you most prove your identity.

If you are a US tax-subject (either nationality, residence, certain business-involvements) you receive a kind of special treatment: According to the new swiss-us taxation agreements which was enforced to the swiss government by the irs.

Switzerland is a nice place to minimize your tax burden - if you are not a us-citizen, resident .....!!!!

    But check for yourself!

    re: Austrian Sparbuch

Some of the information published on that website is plainly wrong!

And other is just missing (oh, we forgot about that flat-rate tax).

Just ask yourself, which way somebody might be after your money.

If you mean its the profit for that high fee - maybe thats just to mislead you and they are after something else.

Being greedy might be okay, being lazy might be ok, but being greedy and lazy might be the ultimate WSD (weapon of selfdestruction)

  7. To late to delete that post.....

    Thanks for the info....

For me paying taxes is a nice problem....means that I am profitable.....I have always believed its good to give the IRS a little to keep them off your back.

  8. Hi Hittfeld,

The same applies to residents/citizens of some other "Western democracies". Many of these have adopted heaps of legislation over the last 20 years which enables their "systems of justice" to criminilize almost any frivolous charge trumped up by tax people and their allies (divorce lawyers for example).

You need to be well connected and need to have lots of money to fight such attacks in Switzerland to safeguard your supposedly safe nestegg! I have heard stories where people even succeeded to partially safeguard their Swiss holdings to see their money disappear in "escrow accounts" of their own (non-Swiss) lawyers racket. Afterwards they are faced with endless (futile) lawsuits in their home countries against their former lawyers in order to recover some of their holdings.

Sounds funny? Indeed Hittfeld, as you say: "But check for yourself!"
