Swingtrading is better than intraday.

What does that mean?

 

I am not going to give the secret away: it took me too long for that. But think multi-timeframe.
My options trading was trading in 5 dimensions: the greeks.

 

Oh sure ... I thought it's some well known term, but couldn't find online. My guess was Price+Time+Volume+Cycle

 

I don't use volume, it's a way overrated looking at that in charts imho.
I use one trendfollowing indicator and one oscillator on all 4 tf's.

 

I don't use classical setting for my indicators. Chart reading is part of the whole picture.

 

Is that why you can't backtest it or automate (if you wanted to)?

 

I think so idd ... I have an algorythm that I use but I don't think it's programmable in the strictest sense. Part of it is applying after staring for over 10.000 hours at charts.

 

Some systems can't be backtested, like backtesting mercury moving on a flat glass plate when the wind blows.

 

Everything you typed above is patently false or misleading, except the transaction cost thing. That is a given. The rest are great in theory, but do not bear themselves out here in the real world.

For me, it is just the reverse.
day trading is much better than swing trading.
I hate swing trading. Swing trading is like taking one step forward,
and multi steps backward.


anyway, if swing trading works for you, by all means do continue using it.
