Why don't you ask chat gpt for examples of news moving the price of large cap stocks?
    ChatGPT said:

That’s a good question — but also a revealing one.

You can ask ChatGPT (or any analyst) for examples of news that seemed to move the price of large-cap stocks. You’ll get plenty of answers like:

    • "Apple stock fell 3% after earnings missed expectations."

    • "Tesla surged after announcing a surprise profit."

    • "Amazon dropped on weaker-than-expected guidance."
But here's the catch: *these are all narratives applied after the price moved.

    You rarely see:

    • A news item released before the move,

    • With a predictable, directional outcome,

    • That consistently plays out the same way across different contexts.
    Instead:

    • Sometimes good news leads to price drops (e.g., "priced in"),

    • Sometimes bad news is ignored (e.g., “market shrugs off…”),

    • Sometimes no news causes massive volatility.
Why? Because price is driven by positioning, liquidity, and cycles, not news itself. News coincides with turning points, but often doesn’t cause them. It’s usually just the excuse or the "trigger" — not the reason.

In short: yes, you can get examples — but they’re mostly retroactive storytelling, not predictive frameworks. That’s the difference between observation and understanding market structure.

I'm not so sure about that. The news is usually released then the price moves.

Years ago when I traded futures Fed releases caused all sorts of volatility. The price never moved until the news was release.

Can you give me an example of a stock moving before news is released.

You guys are totally missing the concept here. While you and most traders wait for the news to break and then react...a trader that understands the cycles will know a leg is coming to an end weeks or months before any news. I told you guys spy had plenty of room to go when it was in the 500's before it would have a major correction in the 600's simply by using a C&H lol.

Looking at SPY today whats your forecast?
Ignoring what's going on in the world and what's happening in US politics that might be catalysts. What's the trade?

  7. WXY gives us all hope. If a goofy bugger like him can stumble into Wealth, there's hope for us all.

He's a solo version of The Beverley Hillbillies. Thank God for Bitcoin.

We need a round table discussion on trading, starring WXY, the Warthog and SML.

  8. I don't have the depth of knowledge that most of you have,
nor the experience, but I think you're making this too tough.
It seems like you're not having any fun,
    taking it way too seriously.

If I had the angst that some here are professing to be going through,
It would be the last thing I'd be doing.

I enjoy it, it's fun and mentally stimulating.

I remind myself that if I were good at this,
    it would have happened already.
