IMPORTANT: Take only opportunities that you really like and understand. Always enter a trade with a trading plan. If you have questions you can always ask me. There is a much greater chance of success in your trading if you understand the trade. That is very important. Only a few trades are enough to be a successful trader. Overtrading is probably the number one reason new traders fail. I personally take mostly swing trades. You must have that always in your mind.

Like to show you all one example what had in the watch list and the room.

N was long call at 07/18/2006 above 67.80, with stop under 65.47.

http://www.swingcharts.net/Ivica/2006/07172006n.jpg Since that was the swing trade opportunity I didn’t have the exactly target. But I was look for 75 area. N did very nice and still looks nice. My plan was to close that trade at 75 areas and I did that, but people who follow my watch list got the every day update with trailing stop and final exit was at 80 whole number resistance area.
    http://www.swingcharts.net/Ivica/2006/08032006n.jpg

What I want to show in this example is the risk – reward. That is very important part for my trading style. You can see what the risk we had from the call above and what the reward we have now. On that way one good r/r (risk/reward) trade can cover few loss trades and at the end with my average 60-70% of winning trades I’m profitable. All new traders should think about that. Because of that we all technical analysts traders use patterns. Those patterns are our tools for low risk setup with bigger reward possibility

If anyone will have any questions feel free to contact me.

p.s. : apologies for English mistakes (working on it).:)

    Market commentary:

    Good day!

The market gapped down at the open under yesterday's low and that brought the possibility of daily trap. With that in mind I was looking for shorting opportunities during the morning. The market held the strong support area and reversed. From that point we saw strong up trend day. Even with today's action, looking at the daily charts there really isn't a big difference. That can see on the QQQQ, SPY, DIA charts.

    http://www.swingcharts.net/Ivica/2006/08042006dia.jpg

With the strong intraday move, the market came into an overbought area. Tomorrow I will expect more back and forth action. This is something we need after a strong intraday move. My bias is on the long side during the morning, but we will observe the premarket action and how the market opens. The monthly Job report is prior to the open and this usually influences the market considerably. Remember today is Friday during the summer so expect low volume summer trading. Maintaining a low risk profile is still recommended.

    Good luck trading today!!!!

  4. When you say "short below..." and "long above..." and "stop above or below..." how much room do you personally give before you enter and exit your trades? Specifically, you suggested shorting HXL below 14.20. Yesterday it hit 14 so where would you (did you) enter the trade. Today the stock hit a high of 14.78 so far which is above your suggested stop of 14.55. Where would you (did you) enter the trade?

    Thanks.

    Hi,
Yes I entered trade and was stopped.

    All depend on stock prise.

    Generally:

    5-10 above 3-5 cents
    10-50 above 5-7 cents
    50-100 7-10 cents
    100 and over 10-20 cents

That is generally. Important is risk reward ect.
Example: xyz above 120, stop under 119.50, target 125...in that case I wont use 10-20 cents. I will use max 5-10 because stop is small.

    Hope this help

  6. Thanks Ivica. I appreciate the reply. Your logic makes sense as well as your idea of keeping the entry and exit dynamic versus static. Thanks again and I'll try to use the email so as not to clutter your excellent thread. Btw, I went to your website but I guess it's still under development except for the first page. But I like the first page. :)

    Market commentary:

    Good day!
If you look at the daily charts of the QQQQ, DIA and SPY you will see some the resistance levels (daily moving averages) were broken last week. All of those resistance levels now become support.
    http://www.swingcharts.net/Ivica/2006/08082006qqqq.jpg

The market unfortunately for us is bouncing between support and resistance. So now we have the 20sma daily support on the QQQQ daily chart, the 100sma on the DIA and the 200sma on the SPY. The QQQQ is showing the weakest action between the three indices.
    http://www.swingcharts.net/Ivica/2006/08082006spy.jpg

I continue to hold the opinion that the month of August will see little change in the market. I will continue to be risk adverse, preserve trading capital and show patience until the market moves in a meaningful way.
    http://www.swingcharts.net/Ivica/2006/08082006dia.jpg

Yesterday we had narrow market action and the intraday (15min) 3rd try triangle did not work. I will continue to look for another slow day until the Fed announces its decision and 2:15 pm ET. I personally don't trade Fed decision as it is too easy to be whip sawed in the market. I will continue to look for day trade opportunities.

    Good luck trading today!!!!

    Market commentary:

    Good day!
Yesterday we had another slow trading day. Most FED days the market will move up in the morning and then stay range bound until the announcement. Yesterday was another narrow action day without that morning move. The market prior to the announcement was very narrow and high risk for trading. After the FED, the market did its usual choppy moves and finished weaker near the intraday lows. Everything on the daily chart stayed the same. Support areas continue to hold. My bias for today is bearish and I will expect more selling. But as usual I will go with market action. Our short STLD, ADS, HNR, JAKK, DD are doing well for now and I will expect them to continue to do well during the few next days. Remember PBR earnings are August 11, 2006; we are in the PBR from 89 areas. Generally no big change. Trade small and trade smart.

    Hi,

Like to explain HNR what we had yesterday on the watch list. Those of you who follow my watch list can see that I use the patterns to cut risk (triangle, base, flag) for me risk/reward is big part of profitability. And HNR is nice example. After the great small consolidation on 60 min chart we yesterday saw break down... Those who stayed in it had nice surprise in the morning. HNR had gap down. I used today for target 11 areas because that is the 200sma daily support area. That is risk/reward 6.70. With proper risk HNR must cover several loss trades, and that is very important what can see on the tracking records what I send every day. Those who are interested for more can send me pm or email.

    HNR in yesterday watch list

    HNR today.

p.s. Apologies for language mistakes. I'm not US citizen, but I believe that helped me a lot to develop this profitable style
