I"m confused.(nothing new there) This virus spreads from human to human. The virus is a mix of swine flu, and bird flu, that incubated in humans, then made the "jump" to a communicable disease. Why would we ban pork?
Yes, I disn't express that clearly. In normal years, there's a shortage of available vaccine for flu shots and most of the population doesn't bother getting it. What would happen in a pandemic outbreak? Any available vaccine would be in short supply.
The Spanish flu which killed 20 million peeps after WWI is a swine flu variation and that's why outbreaks are of concern.
BTW, do a web search on "Fort Dix + Swine Flu" and read about the swine flu vaccine fiasco in the mid 70's. You can also toss in "Guillain-Barré Syndrome". You might think twice about taking your chances with the flu instead of any new vaccine.
Actually, these types of flu killed 40 million one time and 20 million at another.......all BEFORE air travel! :eek:
Your correct. But this fact didn't stop Russia from ban-ing pork and "all meat" from being imported from the hot spots. The same reason they killed 300 million chickens when the bird flu started to spread in China. The same reason there was a ban of Canadian beef to the US/Japan and Britain when BSE was found in a Canadian cow.

You should probably pursue a career as a reporter, since you like sensationalism so much. Each year there are 36K flu related deaths. Sure this could be something big, but it did not just start a few days ago. Jerry Springer probably needs a new guest too. Give it a rest.
