I've already explained this. It is definitely not just about calories. Calories only control weight, not whether you like what you're eating, or how you feel after you've finished eating, or the ratio of body muscle to fat. Lower-carb, higher-protein diets address all of these issues. The manager at Hardees who (skeptically) did the experiment of not eating the bun with his burgers, cutting back on fries, etc., and then saw his (and his wife's) weight drop dramatically, experienced first-hand the power of a lower-carb, higher-protein diet (i.e., he found that he could lose weight while still enjoying what he was eating). And he is not going to "fall off the wagon" since he LIKES WHAT HE IS EATING, FEELS FULL EATING IT, AND FEELS GREAT AFTER EATING IT. What he may do is adjust the content of his meals (they need some sort of fiber-rich wrap around those low-carb burgers ), but he is not going to revert back to his old ways, especially now that we are seeing so many low-carb, good-tasting products hitting the market. The anti-meat, low-fatters did almost NOTHING to help this guy over the years by telling him that it was "all about calories", or that he just lacked the discipline to follow their diets. Clever humans want it all (to have filling, great-tasting food that is also healthy), and will find clever ways to get it all. If necessary, we'll even someday "fix" the beef we're eating to address every last one of the vegetarian's concerns. (In the meantime, though, I'll be eating more poultry than beef. )
Such an open-minded guy. Back tomorrow. If the delinquents can control themselves, I'll post my revised pancakes and sausage breakfast recipe. Am interested in hearing all objections and suggestions with respect to the new recipe. As our president is fond of saying, "Bring it on!"
... What happened to a balanced diet and lifestyle??? I sense a sense of compromise with all these people...
"Many factors, lol there are FOUR, count them. Then do the enitire program. It's proven effective. Only a complete MORON would not think that 4 additional variables are NOT a lot for a study. I can show you trading systems which have WILDLY different results based on just a SINGLE tiny variable. Clearly you do not have the most basic understanding of statistics or trading system development. "Major flaw". LOL. His plan gets excellent results, amazing results with critically ill patients. The only flaw here is in your reasoning. HaHa. Yes thats right... everyone including other researchers can CLEARLY see this flaw, but you seem to think its A-ok. Again... ill point out the fact that you are completely IGNORANT of basic probability. You would "wager"?? Is this *your* proof? You rest your entire case on pure speculation but you have a problem with Ornish's research?! LOL! You amuse me. Excuse me but did I call it proof? Nothing but a STRAWMAN FALLACY. Clearly you also lack basic REASONING ABILITY. The point is... there are MANY studies which show that quitting smoking is very good for your health. There are many studies which show that regular exercise is good for your health too. Do I really need to inform you of this? Apparently your are so incredibly ignorant, that you are not even aware of this most basic of health information. An "obvious give away" for what?? That all heart disease is from smoking?? Once again you must resort to a STRAWMAN FALLACY. Did I SAY that smoking is the cause of *ALL* heart disease? Of course not. But it is a MAJOR factor in heart disease and this is well known and documented. Are you also completely ignorant of this as well? And that cessation of smoking will reverse heart disease and damage?? More pure spec on your part? Thanks for the "interesting" discussion LOL. Yet ANOTHER strawman fallacy. I never said this. Your lack of basic reasoning is simply astonishing. Are you 6 years old by any chance? Ok... either your ARE longshot, or as completely clueless, and lacking of basic probability and reasoning skills as he is. You must be extremely embarrassed by your reply. I know I would be humiliated if I replied in such a ridiculous manner. There is NO point in arguing with someone who has proven that he lacks the skills required to hold an intelligent debate such as yourself. Ill give you one more chance to say something intelligent, and this time I wont screw up adding you to my ET ignore list along with longdip. The worst arguer on ET. peace axeman
When all variables are present the results are valid and forthcoming. Do the program in it's entirety. Speaking of unknown variables , your personal diet collage that you've culled from varied sources constitute many more variables than Ornish by a mile. Your diet is completely untested and you have no idea what the results will be over longterm or how your various chosen factors will act or interact. Clearly you don't have the understanding of stats or sys developement you think you do. You funny guy, Funny! LOL.
Yes, smoking is a factor but will quitting alone reverse heart disease allowing triple bypass patients to cancel their surgery? This was the question, can you read? I'm talking specific physical and clinical effects, you're talking general admonitions. Please add me to your ignore list. You reason in circles, lack basic reading comprehension skills, it's really funny to listen to you. LOL. I realize now with the last of your post you can't keep up here. Thanks for the laughs. Go back to religion thread please. You are adequate there (but stu is much much better)
You are speaking of making compromises in the diet/plan to overcome the foibles of the person. If that what it takes then so be it. It's better than no change at all I suppose. How much better, will it be enough? Well that's open to question. I am speaking to adopting the best possible diet/plan science can offer to date. Apples and Oranges.
