I agree with you. Same with PA, similar population size and same death numbers WITH a lockdown. Now we do know that an American lockdown isn't the same as a European one, but then why even try it? And even if it is a lockdown, 3 weeks should do it, instead of a extended 2 months one....

Most of the info I've seen has shown U.S. to be much worst than Sweden even though those sources were not comparing the two. Therefore, not sure why one would compare Sweden to Michigan considering Michigan is not a Scandinavian country. Further, Michigan does not have a similar like healthcare system that took on the Coronavirus. You guys need to really look at the facts as initiated by others in this thread: Compare Sweden to other countries that did not lockdown...there are countries that did not lockdown. Stats were posted in this thread. Compare Sweden to other countries with a similar like healthcare system considering the lead epidemiologist and prime minister of Sweden have publicly stated their problems with Coronavirus is due to their inept healthcare system. Because it is mostly Americans here (an assumption) who are bitching about Sweden. Now when we have 10-12 US states with lock down doing just as bad as Sweden, Americans here have no right to bitch anymore. That simple... Also it shows the weakness of a badly executed lock down. If you are doing as bad with lock down as other countries without it, then why bother and screw your business life and employment??

The issue is that many believe the stats aren't true about Sweden and there's a misconception about Sweden's not doing a lockdown... They actually did a lockdown but they (as in Sweden) coined it as a "Lockdown Lite". Regardless, whom did the lockdown with the most restrictions...the above partly answers your question via the fact that Sweden did a Lockdown Lite. The other part to your question, too late to wonder about the why. It's now more about what's going to happen in tomorrow, next month, end of year and next year. That's the true frustration for most. As stated, I have no skin in this game when it comes to Sweden. Yet, I just find it odd whenever facts are posted...certain individuals ignores them and then runs away as if they had some skin in the game to Sweden. Then again, this is ET and such type of behaviour is the norm. Yet, as stated in another thread, if I was going to compare the U.S. Covid-19 response / results...it would be to itself in comparison to the prior Pandemic...SARS. Really tremendous numbers in Sweden. They have really played this well and are either at, or nearly at, herd immunity now in my view. Other than their nursing home debacle, this is the model that the world should be following I believe. I suspect that Brazil is getting much closer now to herd immunity as well.
