Coronavirus: Hard-hit Sweden admits it could have battled COVID-19 better https://www.euronews.com/2020/06/03...-admits-it-could-have-battled-covid-19-better I think they're now realizing that the longer this disease goes on...less stories about the old becoming ill / death and more stories about the young. It's simple, admit wrong now so that you will not need to repeat it again when more young people become ill / die especially when the 2nd wave happens around the world. Back in the U.S...there's a growing fear of the illness / deaths since memorial day weekend when some states had begun reopening. Now that more states are reopening or going into the next phases...growing fear that the 2nd wave will come soon than later. On the flipside, more people are getting out and doing small social events. Heck, even some sports are preparing to re-open although at limited capacity for the fans. Regardless, Sweden is doing much better than I expected. Yet, same trend all over...less older people are dying and more younger people are becoming ill / dying. A pattern associated with some of the prior Pandemics...a year where all the global chaos are connected. wrbtrader
Less older people are dying because less older people are catching it , it seems unlikely that the profile of death rates related to age has changed, death rates among young are probably thousands to one . As I've previously stated it's far too early to decide whether Swedens policy has been a good one or not , here in uk our death rate isn't far behind and our economy is a third smaller ( a guestimate ( down 5% march 20 % April) mainly because of our lockdown policy , if there are second spikes in parts of the world the pressure to avoid 2nd lockdowns will be huge as people begin to realise the economic consequences. A Swedish guy on GMTV said he thought chances were UK would end up in a similar place to Sweden , in terms of virus not economy, that seems more and more likely to me .
Anything can happen by the end of the year. Unfortunately, Pandemics have a statistical pattern. One of those statistical patterns involves the 2nd wave. The problem with that its "predicted" to start when the flu season begins. In contrast, I believer there will be events occurring in unison around the world that will trigger that 2nd wave to begin earlier than the flu season. Here in Canada, less older people are catching it but more younger people are catching it. Maybe the younger folks are not as careful during this Pandemic or they believe only the older people can catch it. Strangely, I don't see many saying let the young people die off...its inevitable...like they were saying about the old people. Regardless, still early and they're still learning about this infection. I truly hope a 2nd wave does not hit and debunks a lot of the statistical prediction models. wrbtrader
Are you still debating the fantasy that if you hide away for 6months, there will still be a world worth living in after and that you still won't just get it anyway??? These are lies so they can scare you but also make out there protecting you at the same time, it's lies, why can't you see this ??
All going to end up the same as sweden, if not worse the old / sick being sheltered in Sweden won't have as long before the virus has burnt itself out, just delayed that by 6weeks in the UK, 6weeks longer they have to self isolate, what a waste of a million peoples lives. Our Deaths in the UK allowing for population difference would be 10K+ more, we've done badly. Posted on my other thread.... Sweden, testing increasing but deaths decreasing week after week, so they've hit Herd and nearly over, without lockdowns. WE 3th May week count.. 485 10th.... 546 17th .... 454 24th .... 319 1st july..... 405 8th... 291 14th so far 215 + Sunday ( 3 last week reported ) 5 weeks down 66% area, 10 weeks to <10 per week. +1500 more deaths estimated. It's all going to end up the same, Lockdowns can slow to help health care, hospital beds dropping in the UK before the lockdown would of kicked in, it's just delaying it at great cost maybe until the winter to over lap Flu yeah that'll be great Auss and NZ, different but there both in a bubble together soon, so until vaccine nobody in the country without quarantine or they'll end up the same aswell ( Huge place, small population makes it hard to spread so they'll lockdown again )
"An analysis by Werlabs AB of 50,000 tests showed that only 14 per cent of those living in the Stockholm region tested positive for coronavirus antibodies. In Bergamo, considered to be the epicentre of Italy’s deadly outbreak, about 57 per cent of people had antibodies." The swedes were saying months ago they had almost reached herd immunity in Stockholm. Was obvious crock of shit. Have to suffer 30,000 dead in Sweden before they can get anywhere close. And then who knows how long the immunity lasts.
If you look at life as a journey, old people are at the end of their adventure. Young people are just getting their ticket.
Life if valuable no matter the age. In fact, such is inscribed in the laws of all countries. In fact, in some cultures, the elder are more value because the elders contain more wealth of knowledge, wealth of history, financial wealth and so on. Also, crimes against the elderly are statistically given heavier prison sentences for the exact same crime committed by a young person against another young person. To a 5 year old...someone that's 30 years old is OLD. To a teenager...someone that's 40 years old is OLD. To a 40 years old person...someone that's 62 years old is OLD. To a 60 years old person...someone that's 90 years old is OLD. In fact, many people in the position of power...they tend to be older than 40 years old. Regardless, most view someone officially as part of the elderly population is when you're at retirement age...most places that's 62 years old. Simply, go tell a 60 year old in the position of power not to lockdown because he / she is at the end of their adventure. They will turnaround and look at someone much younger... Without me...you will have no ticket. By the way, the Prime Minister of Sweden, Stefan Löfven is 62 years old. wrbtrader
Thats not true in our current western culture. Old farts are an expensive burden on the health system. Plus they hoard wealth (property) while the young increasingly go without, many will never own a home. This current batch, the post war boomers, have had it especially good over the last 50 years, no generation has ever been so fortunate.
