The state in Pennsylvania shut down but the population had problems maintaining the guidelines given by the health officials. I compare those problems with the same problems in Illinois.

    They're a lot better now.

Could it be the warming weather ???

....and businesses suffered and people lost their jobs, unlike in Sweden. Yet both states are at the same dead/million number.

    Question:

Sweden no lockdown, yet its case load and death are far smaller than Spain and Italy....?

  4. Increase in fatalities during the past 30 days

    Sweden - 2541
    Norway+Finland - 320

    "Swedish Policy Factor" = 7.94

I took a look at stock market performance since Jan and it didn't show any significant difference. Atleast the market does not think Sweden has saved its economy by sacrificing 8 times as many people.

I think all three have different social backgrounds, industry identifications (I think a wrong phrase) that overall puts them all high up on the map.

I've spent a lot of time in both states but never been to Sweden nor am I'm familiar with its industries / population.

Yet, what about this article involving Sweden exports industries and other industries @ https://www.wsj.com/articles/sweden...own-its-economy-is-hurting-anyway-11588870062

My point, businesses in Sweden are suffering too but obviously not as much as those economies that shutdown. The main reason is because I'm under the expression that Sweden is an export country.

Thus, if the world around them is shut down...their products are not needed unless I misunderstood the reasons why their industries are suffering too.

    Markets=/=Economy

Even if they also took an economical hit, people aren't crazy because they have been quarantined. in the US people would kill for a haircut or a steak at a restaurant. I would safely assume their unemployment is that big either.

That's an understatement...there's been increasing scenes of violence of all types about the most ridiculous things.

I have a friend that's a multi-millionaire (inherited) and she complains almost every day about not being able to have her private salon gal come to her home to do her hair.

She actually financially supported many people to go to their state capitol to protest and then one day she gets into a cat fight with someone else (holding a baby) that accidentally cut in line at a store. :D

This is a woman I grew up with and went to college with...someone yelling at her would make her coward in fear.

The Pandemic has made her a fighter. :wtf:

Spanish population is 5 times bigger then Sweden, so Spanish numbers should be divided by 5 to compare correctly with Sweden.

Italian population is 6 times bigger then Sweden, so Italian numbers should be divided by 6 to compare correctly with Sweden.

Don't compare apples with oranges. Swedish numbers should be massively lower to be at the same level with Spain and Italy.

    I reacted on this statement:
I pointed to the inaccuracy of that statement. It should have been:
"Sweden no lockdown, yet its case deaths per 1 million inhabitants are far smaller than Spain and Italy....?"

He just stated that there are less deaths then in Italy or Spain, which is obvious as the population is much smaller.
Not mentioning per 1 million inhabitants, suggests that he just compares the population of the three countries. And that is wrong.

Sweden has 22 inhabitants per km²
Italy has 201 inhabitants per km²
Who do you think would have the best numbers for deaths by corona?

Even comparing deaths per 1 million inhabitants has it's limitations. If you compare Siberia or Antartica with any country they would be much lower too. Density of the population has a big impact on per 1 million inhabitants. Just ask in New York if they see a difference with the desert of Nevada.
