You are on the hook for 10 years, citizenship or not. And you can't just pay foreign tax and call it good.

That's not what I see at 1040abroad, which gives a step-by-step. Clean break after you renounce and pay your exit tax. A few other details, but nothing about "10 years".

I looked at it a while back, as far as I could tell, there is no getting around it.

  8. I have reason to believe that hell is not upon us and good things are yet to come for those who believe.

  9. There are a few flies in the ointment:

    1. Not enough people believe; Many are too comfortable in their current situation to lift a finger.
    2. No evidence of a remotely workable plan going by previous outcomes.
    3. Plenty of evidence for a “Competency gap” relative to needs.
    4. The presumed goal does not necessarily mean it will create a more effective system.
    5. The chances of, and the costs of failure are too high to take the risk.

My statement “Hell is upon us” was hyperbolic and I debated removing it as it conflicted with my position on giving the Biden Administration a chance. I meant my statement to be more of a warning than sounding like a prediction, but I failed to find the right words.

I hope Trump and his supporters don’t actually believe Trump still has a political career at this point, much less there is anyway he can continue as POTUS. Any efforts to use force to effect political outcomes will backfire badly, certainly causing loss of freedom of compatriots and probably lives, depending on their commitment(Stubbornness) level.

Trump is a great Patriot who served us well under the constant withering fire of a hostile media and Congress. Trump also had backstabbing RINOs to deal with. I understand it is hard to let go; to feel like one is failing to deliver on fundamental promise. The fact is, the resources are not there, leaving it best for us to thank Trump for his service and salute him.

Just as I’m willing to give the Biden Administration a chance, I hope you will do so as well, at least until such point Biden proves party ideology is much more important than providing leadership for all Americans. Remember, the majority of Americans feel Biden won the election. Please pass the word.
