That is exactly why this country needs immigrants but don't give them welfare.

Obviously, you don't have kids, or hobby's ;p
Innovation/robotics/AI should be used to free people from wasting time to activities which can be done much more efficient. Luckely excavators were invented, or we would still be digging holes all day long.

I used a measure of what I accomplished rather than how much time I spent accomplishing it.

  4. Disagree. Tons of people have kids and work 80 hour weeks. My job for many years started at 7am and I was out of the office at 8pm. Then I had occasional night conf calls which I took on the way back from work or during dinner. And I worked on Saturday for 6-8 hours, and occasional Sundays perhaps 4 hours. I had plenty of time for family and took vacations around 4 weeks a year. But I had zero time for youtube, TV, weed, social media and other bullshit. I don't regret my choices for a second. I recently retired, bought a ranch in Canada and do all the things I ever wanted.

How long did you do that for?
That kind of hours is about right for running a ranch. :)

If you own property you get the positive side of inflation.
And taxes too. Property beats inflation by a few percent every year, thats some of your tax dollars at work keeping your area and local infrastructure maintained and so keeping your property prices up.

It is the life long renters who really pay the price.

    Inflation + taxes + rent :(

    Gotta love it.
Just today, heard on the radiooo that plumbers are pulling down 180K+, electricians 240+. That'll buy a few VI pizzas, lol.

First work smart, Then work hard. 80/20, Plan your work and work your plan. Hell that's a decent idea for a thread. lol

As a small property owner, I wish I could raise rent on the whim but it's not feasible. Once you have good tenants, you try to hold onto them for that constant cash flow. When they move out, then it is time to jack up the rent for the new tenant.

One of my tenants I gave a heads-up that rent would go up 3%/yr but that's really peanuts when you break it down each month. The compounding will come into play at some point and they will leave because it will become too expensive.

It will yield what it is worth to a tenant, or less.

Working hard in NL and working hard as teen in Cambodia sand mines.
    Very different things.

    Hard times = strong men
    Strong men = good times
    Good times = weak men
    Weak men = Hard times
