My pleasure. We seem to have similar body compositions. Definitely start small. Get good running shoes and just jog as far as you can. You'll huff and puff. Do this for a few weeks. Within a month or so you will be able to jog a few miles. Add in other routines. I recommend using a stationary bike because it removes the impact of running (bad for the joints) but still allows you to breathe heavily and perform sprint routines.

If all goes well, you should be able to ramp up and start your sprints within 30-45 days of beginning your exercise routine. (Don't do them right away as that will simply discourage you). By the time you are doing sprints, you will already be eating a clean diet, will already have lost a few pounds and will have the energy and motivation to see it through.

  3. Supplementation or hard-work. You don't strike me as a guy that's going to start running 3-miles a day or doing 300 burpees. I took a WSOP winner from 220 to 175 in three months, but it's costly.

Good luck and take some before and after pics.

  4. Also, Surf, try and do like 10 pushups once a day 4 or 5 days a week. Try this for a couple weeks, then bump up to 15, then 20, 25 etc etc over the coming weeks and months.

Like Murrica says, start small. If you try and do too much too fast you'll be overexerted and lose interest.

Agreed. In addition to the pushups, I also highly recommend 'Bicycle Crunches'. Absolutely killer. They kick your ass but are extremely effective.

  7. Thanks, that's a good idea. I'll do it. annaland bought me a block of personal training time with some muscle head--- but I am ashamed to go being in such poor shape--- after i start a program on my own, I will go to the trainer. thanks again, surf

  8. We are setting up a deathchannel trade on the YM 14914 to 14887--- remember stay flat in the death channel, short when the lower line is broken, go long when the upper line is broke. The Price Drivers are indicating a slight bearish bias in the DJIA at this time--- but we are allowing the deathchannel to enter directionally. good luck! surf

Just do some aerobic load first, moderate to not overload heart. People underestimate regularity of regime and over-estimate tactics. Just like trading, ha.

Believe me if you just walk 1-2 hours every day, but do it regularly, it alone can do miracles. Unless there are troubles with leg joints of course (happens in cases of over-weight sometimes).

  10. Hey, key number one don't give a crap what others think. Start with a pro if your wife gave you the gift. The guys and women I have met who do the training for a living love to work with people and don't care what you look like or how bad shape you are in when you start. What they want is the motivation to get going and keep with their program. They get job satisfaction seeing the changes knowing they had a hand in improving your life.
With a kid coming, get that energy level up! Geez, the little guys and gals wear you out, and it doesn't get easier. I give my youngest crap because he will sit on the couch playing video games all day other than school and soccer. So I go out with him and figure I'll kick his butt, and I'll be near death after an hour while he is laughing at me.
