I note his losing YM trade was $25 per tick (5 contracts)
So he then goes to bet $100 a tick on CL (10 contracts).
Now even a coin flip will eventually put a 'smile on the bottom line' if you keep upping your bet size four fold every time you lose.

 

I think his timing was impeccable

 

I've asked him twice already, no response.

 

Yeah it's a strange jump in size. I think he said something about being unable to increase size on CL as he was max'd out so that idea is a non starter. Taking a $50k hit must mean reducing future size in all probability... if I understood correctly.

That will make recovering from so many losses more difficult because of the low win rate and the increasing size of losses. It's not just the math that piles up against the trader, it's the emotional damage and that's not surf's strong point.

It will be interesting to see how he handles the math as well as the recovery strategy. Exciting stuff watching these PD's in action. If they are cyclical then surf will hit some big winners and just have to bite the bullet on the cyclical losses. However if the PD's turn to be fools gold then it will be more of the same. I love watching a quant in action.

Allright--- we are setting up channel to trade the /YG june gold emini contract. The PD's are leaning bullish BUT experience has shown that this may portend toward a continued negative move. We have created a death channel in the contract at 1433 to 1377--- trades will be entered in the direction of the break out, at 3 minutes after breaking above or below the channel line---- If our channel lines are correct, the breaking of these lines combined with the PD will result in profitable price momentum in the same direction. Lets go do what happens. Surf

PS-- I feel bullish here, along with the PD's but will await confirmation via channel to confirm rather than plunging in on PD alone.

 

I hope he was in front of the platform to get out. Depending on which broker he probably had to reenter the stop, or take himself out.

 

YM june death channel is 14777 to 14666--- long above short below with same parameters as the gold trade. PD's are neutral-- so just paitently waiting for a break. surf

 

Still looks bearish to me, don't see much strength materializing just yet.
