Thanks for the update. Why not at least reduce the position when you were closer to b/e? It would have at least allowed you to make other trades in other markets, or even go back and average in if it failed back down, as it seems to have done. I ask as you say it was a mistake to be all in at the start of the trade and your capital is locked up in this trade. I again mention that this could be a good lesson for traders. Admit a mistake and given a chance to correct it, do so. Or as I have done, get the hell out and start over. I click wrong, hang in to long, all the usual suspects that beat up traders, but the one thing I do now when I screw up is admit and correct as quick as possible. I am not saying you are wrong with your system, but you made mistakes that you had a chance to at least partially correct, but chose not to correct.
Yes, correct. I have a serious stubborn streak and I'll admit its sometimes not the best for active trading. surf
Surf something I've noticed about your PD's is they go in and out of phase. At times they are hot on both large and small swings and then at other times like now they are lousy at timing. This is a problem for most systems. Finding the cause and either not trading then as in MESA cycles or correcting the problem is a major challenge. It might even be worth using some rocket science along with what you are dong and if MESA is out of phase then see if that is when your PD's are not sharp.
Wish you all the best, Surf. But I noticed one thing Xspurt emphasized too. You predict volatile moves very well. Direction is different story (TA rules in directional trading, big way). Maybe you consider trying to apply your PD's to delta-neutral strategies at least in addition to your outright trades. It would attract people interested in options and make your journal more interesting as we could all compare PD's being applied to outright vs. delta-neutral trading.
Yeah, I figued there is no upside in fighting the bully cop. I let my grievance known to mgt--- that's about the extent of my influence over entrenched mods.
Yes, I have noticed that also. Not to mention my own personal issues with trading--- I am brutally stuburn and want my way no matter what sometimes- ( other times, i can trade quite effectively) - this is even to the extent of going against what i KNOW and what the SYSTEM says--- It has come to that point in this CL trade-- but I am down so much that a little more really doesn;t make a difference so I put a stop in and am just letting it ride now--- not even calculating the PD's. It appears like I am going to lose, but one never knows. surf
