Your logic is faulty; a moderator participating outside their designated moderating forum is no longer a "cop". They don't have the powers to do anything that you can't also do (if I'm wrong, then I'll retract). Their "badge" is meaningless and they are your "peer" in those forums and therefore should be given the same privileges as you. I agree with your argument if it concerns a mod posting within his/her designed moderating forum. Then, I see that as a abuse of power. Otherwise, I don't see it.
Come on Surf, let's face it, you are a clown. Nobody reads your journals for market wisdom, we read it for entertainment. And seriously, why did you restart it? What made you think this time would be different??? You have gazillion Twitter followers, why do you care about what a few ETers think?
He would be a bully if he attacked you but used his mod position to deny you the same privilege. If he is expressing his personal view and you are not denied the same opportunity, there is no abuse of position or power. Provide one instance of his denying you freedom to express your views, while attacking you, and I assure you I and all of similar mind will take this up with Baron.
The mod badge gives him inherent power to anyone reading the site. Just like a cop in uniform has inherent power even outside of his jurisdiction. As a mod he is speaking for the site itself, not for himself-- just like a cop acts in the best interest of the state. A cop can't wear political slogans or voice opinions-- why should a moderator be able to do so, particullarly in the snide and vicious way of this bully with a badge? Its the perception of the power that matters, not the reality of the power. There is no question the bully cop has stepped way outside of the proper role of a moderator-- therefore needs to have his badge removed. It's unfortunate that mgt didn't catch on to this long ago, or saw the deleted pure nastyness and idiocracy of his deleted posts--- Mgt needs to make a choice, the bully cop's mod badge, or marketsurfer's content. that's the bottom line at this point. surf
It's unfair of you to ask that a mod not be allowed the same posting privileges as you or anyone else OUTSIDE of their moderating forums. If they are doing their job within their forums and then enjoying the rest of ET as everyone else, I see no harm.
No, the fact that they wear the moderator badge all over the site provides percieved power and the perception they are speaking for elitetrader rather than themselves. Remove the badge, and I agree with you. surf
take their badge away, outside of their forum, then you have a point. It's the brandishing of the badge that is the issue. Like i said, take his badge away and I'll be back adding quality content. Untill then, i will not participate in any forum with bully cops. surf
It takes almost NO TIME to go to a forum and see WHO is that forums moderator. Then you'll KNOW who is or isn't and, therefore, removes the "perceived power" issue. It's a simple concept, not sure why you are struggling so much with it. Many other users "get it".
