I gotta admit.. It's a soap opera. It's for entertainment only. There should be a disclaimer though. I hate to think that someone might actually believe the stuff Surf says. Once in a while he puts on a good paper trade. But the best part of the journal is the drama. It doesn't bother me when Surf goes on and on against stuff in his journal. However when he gets outside and into other journals with the stuff, it gets old very fast. I've never spoken out about it because I know the hits are good for the website but as Nodoji pointed out, I wonder if it does start to look like a circus after a while. Surf, respectfully I say this. Maybe in a humble state you might consider that things exist outside of your knowledge and experience. I can understand a bad call. But when you start talking in 100% certainties, it rubs real traders the wrong way. And, it should. I believe you to be a nice guy. I know you are trying to make a name for yourself. But, at what cost..
Not true. The one thing you lose is your greatest asset-- time. Time that could be better spent on more productive pursuits. Someone could spend thousands upon thousands of hours testing trading methods and being tricked by hindsight bias, when in reality the methods don't even work for the guru who promotes them. That would make the seller a snake oiler.
Blows up on trade; well it's just acting IF trade didn't blow up: I am the greatest trader in the world, TA is for losers and price drivers rule the real world.. etc.. etc.. etc http://www.businessinsider.com/ques...-you-superficially-charming-and-intelligent-1
. Goldman is watching you eyez. You best be cautious. They have eyes everywhere. To correct a misunderstanding --- the call was real. The hype was theater. surf
+1 Count me as naive as you seemed quite sincere..NOT..a clown just having some fun at others expense. I read the journal section to follow progress and lessons of other traders and often come up with some ideas to try, so for me ET is not strictly entertainment. Entertainment SHOULD be in the chit chat forum not in a journal. ciao.
That's exactly right. OK, he had one losing trade -- after a series of huge winners. He's still way up on the year, but because he's a warm, empathetic, genuine nice guy, he's letting a swarm of relentless trolls bully him into giving up on his own journal. Makes no sense at all. He should ignore them, and keep posting his calls and analyses as he sees fit. They're free to start their own journals -- assuming they have any value to add, which is much in doubt.
Cautious about what? Making fun of you? LOL You already admitted that everything you said and were doing up to this point was for entertainment purposes... and admitted to using multiple aliases to promote 3rd party stuff. So you have contradicted your own statements regarding "providing value on ET"... im beginning to believe the others regarding surf using multiple sock puppets to defend himself here as I see similar writing patterns
Can you provide some examples of a pursuit one can spend time on knowing in advance that the time invested will result in a productive outcome? I did spend thousands of hours testing all kinds of trading ideas, not knowing in advance what would work and what wouldn't, not even knowing if it was possible to produce income reliably. That time investment was a risk I was willing to take based on the fact that I could see patterns on charts that seemed to repeat more often than not. The way I determined whether I was seeing more successes than failures of these patterns due to hindsight bias was to create a set of specific rules and apply the rules to every appearance of a setup that meet my criteria. I did this for hundreds of trading days and kept all sorts of stats about the trades. Consistently profitable results led me to believe I had a working system and I learned over time to trust it.
English is your second language so I forgive you for not comprehending. Let me say it again---The hyperbole is theater, the calls are very serious. surf
