Why do you speak down to people in this manner in relation to their trading method, especially considering the public outcome of yours, or is that why you do it? Overcompesation type emotional release thing.
Geez guys, relax, it was all of... all of... 2 days ago that marketsurfer closed the losing trade. Not 2 months. Not 2 weeks. If over time it turns out that trading discussions have indeed concluded here then the thread will either be closed or moved to Chit Chat. But in the meantime please give it a rest, just amazing what people get so worked up over...
In the spirit of cooperation, WRB-- yes, I have agreed with many things you have said-- truth is truth regardless of who speaks it. However, this goes not mean that you don't harbor some deep resentment as is evidenced here. But that's ok, all you need to do is stop reading the surf alert report Regards, surf
No taclander makes libelous statements against others and veiled threats. I knew the guy from many years ago as he has been on ET for awhile and he was a completely normal guy who rarely posted. Sometime in the last year the guy completely jumped the shark and his behavior did a 180. Surf for the most part has been a character his whole time on here. I don't think anyone seriously thinks he is trading real money or if he is, it's very small. To be honest with you, I don't think I've read more then a page of his journals over the last 3 years. So it's possible I'm missing something egregious but if it's just him making bad trades then that's par for the course for ET. I know he goes on long rants about TA and price drivers, but I honestly think he is just fishing for writing material when he does that. I don't even know what price drivers are and it occurred to me sometime back that they were not real but rather created to be antagonistic to TA traders. Having met the guy in real life he is almost unrecognizable to me on ET. Much in the same way Nitro is. I know that guy well and I have no fucking clue who it is that's posting under his alias. So I tend to not read a lot of what Nitro and Surf post only because it's hard to interact with someone when you know who they are in real life and they act differently online. As I said before, the one legit complaint I see is that his journal is not really a journal but more of a broad discussion thread and it should be in chit chat. I think that's fair. But like I said earlier, even in chit chat, that doesn't make his detractors any happier. I only jumped in here because I know the guy and his persona on here is just that, it's a persona. If he is breaking any laws or doing anything illegal, that is another matter. If he is secretly trying to sell something without being a paid vendor, that is something. If he were trying to raise money and claim his trading results were real, that would be something. But if he just comes on here to get a rise out of guys, then I'm not sure I understand all the hate. Like I said, I avoided these threads like the plague because they bore me quite quickly, so if I'm missing any material information, I'm willing to correct my statements.
I realize that. I'll reiterate one point. How can someone be 100% in a futures position (took 200-300 points against entry) and take the kind of heat he takes without being liquidated? It simply can't be done in a production account. It's fiction. Had he stated he was short 10% of net liq it would be believable. This is a coin-flip paper-trading "journal" when the guy makes it his life's work to slam others (Cornix, et al). I won't post again to this thread (after my forthcoming response to Mav) but I think the guy is sleaze, and I've been friendly with Surf for years.
To use a Surferism; my analogy to taclander was hyperbole. There is a special class of meds for that guy. What a f*cking loon. Nothing stated here (other than taclander's gibberish) can be construed as libel. He (surf) makes up more shit than anyone and then balks when called out? I really don't care how nice he is in person or that he's got a fluffy golden retriever.
"A snake oil salesman is someone who knowingly sells fraudulent goods or who is himself or herself a fraud, quack, charlatan, and the like." Back in the day, "snake oil" referred to a product that was supposed to bring health to the suffering. The way it worked was that one consumed it. Maybe it was harmless, but in some cases it was harmful and even dangerous or fatal. The thing is, there was no way to know unless you put it in your body and it was sold as something you put in your body. Once that happened there was no turning back. Trading courses and software can be tested harmlessly. It's called a simulated account or a demo account. You can buy a course or a book or a program and test the concepts or the program in a demo account. The only money you lose is the price paid for the course, book or program, so you know your cost up front, no surprises. Better yet, you can get books from your library (free) or test the ideas shared by members of trading forums (free). If you test it out and it doesn't work, you lose nothing but whatever money you agreed to pay up front. There's nothing requiring you to apply the ideas with a live trading account to know if they'll work or not. So trading courses, books and programs are nothing like "snake oil" because you can find out if it's worthless or downright dangerous without losing a dime of your trading capital. Now you on the other hand say you post here and try to help others. You denigrate powerful methods for retail traders to extract profits consistently from the markets, claiming that your decades of experience have proven it all to be garbage that preys on the hopes of newbies. You claim to have serious connections with true professional traders, with the "smart money", with wildly successful fund managers. So when you tell us that the high for the year is in, that the market can't go higher, we assume you're offering us a way to attain our hopes and dreams, based on your philanthropic sharing of your knowledge based on what true professionals are doing. How many people who trusted you got burned?
I was wrong on the top call, Nodoji. I admit this-- I'm wrong a lot---but my calls are based on the best of my information. The hype is theater--- any reasonable person would get this. I don't believe your claimed methods help retail or contain any edge. But if you and others are truthfully consistently profiting from them. Why does it matter what I believe or say?? By the way "real professionals" lose money often also-- sometimes huge money--- the only folks who don't are in your camp, hence my suspicions .
There is an education in this journal, mostly wisdom as in how not to think, what not to do. On top of that I think Surf gathered a lot of hate towards him for his tenacious attack against the usefulness of Technical Analysis, precisely what makes all of the great profitable traders I've met, profitable. However, as the great John Lennon once said "Make love not war".
Trader fighter. Particularly since I use to be a hard core technical analyst. MTA member everything. No one is hated more by cult members than ex cult members. However meeting real professionals at Knight, various funds and prop shops -- I realized that very few if any real Pros use TA as a pure trading method what they call here price action. Sure TA is good to describe or make a point, but try using it alone as a real time objective decision making tool and it fails. surf
