far be it from defending shorting rationale....i must point out we have had many, many strong selloffs while the fed was giving us our medicine. obviously you traders do not need examples of such. with that said i do not short or buy the markets until i see the move already go in the particular direction. so what i'm a little late...smaller money is better than losing.
That leads us to the most sane conclusion in this thread, which Banjo recently did: trade what you see.
Good point - we recently sold off 7% and there was zero reduction in QE. But the perception was that the easy $$ might slow down in the near future. The market then beat bubble Ben into submission and he made certain to word things much more carefully this time around
What the Fed does or doesn't do is of no relevance to the market. 5, 10, 15, 20 years from now no one will be talking about the Fed. There will be plenty of other memes to justify why the market "will keep going up forever"..
Not even just no more posting or calls, but no contact with the site at all, even if someone comes in asking about you (others will just link to this arrangement to explain why you're not here anymore.) Saying 'unless such and such happens' is just a cop out. 100% committed means 100% risk. And like I said, street rules, play for the court.. you lose, you can't play here anymore. That's the idea. -- Edit: And it appears you lost. Good bye surf. I'll screen cap my proposal and you responding with 'yes' for future reference. I won't comment on your trade or why I'm perplexed about some of your decisions given your experience (no need to kick a guy when he's down, and I'm sure you had your reasons even though I can't see them) but all the best in future endeavors.
Sorry to hear about your loss. Good luck in your future endeavors. Don't forget to have this journal closed - don't leave it as an open playground for the hecklers.
It was a paper-trade. He started a thread about oraclewizard that stated he wouldn't be back unless oracle was stripped of mod privileges. Surfer was back later the same day. What exactly has he lost? Does anyone here believe he had any money on the line or that he won't be back?
