He doesn't use stop losses....unless he makes another mistake in execution like the first trade in the journal.
Dude, you have moderator under your name not a sheriff badge. Very surprised at your post. It smacks of elitism. "trash talking about TA" "us TA traders" "sneaking his website" The first two, folks are entitled to their opinion, theory, magic beads, PD, whatever they are using. Others are free to debate. This is what makes ET great. Can't say I have seen any links from surf promoting 'his' sites - that doesn't mean it hasn't happened. Take a page from Magna's book? Fair, swift, speaks only when necessary, and a dash of altruism.
I asked him about the inconsistency of using a stop loss on the first trade and then plainly stating a few pages later that he doesn't use stop orders. He said that using a stop loss on the first trade was a "mistake in execution".
I use new platform since this week and accidentally cancelled stop-loss order on a open trade. So it probably happens the other way around too.
Not sure what the story is, but it is possible he screwed up. He admitted to at least a couple. First he went into the trade with the wrong size, and second his use of a stop on the first trade. At the same time his stop price and reenter price aren't much different. It would be interesting to see a broker statement, as we all know it is much easier to say you are holding a sim trade with a large loss than to hold a live trade. I unfortunately over the years have held losing trades into the land of stupid. One of my favorites was AOL.
Same here. Which is probably why so many here have a hard time understanding why someone claiming 20 years experience would keep doing it - over and over.
Held losing trades and averaged down as well back in 2005 (my first year of trading). Quickly realized there's something wrong to it. Took a few more years to realize what exactly and what is the proper alternative.
In looking at his site and his info, I see he says he has extensive trading experience, but seems to have done more of a lot of other things working for traders and hedge funds, so the trading experience maybe somewhat limited. I'd be open to Surf saying where and for how long he traded as a pro. Just curious as to his training and where he could let one go like this. Not attacking Surf, honestly just asking.
