As much as I think you are a very smart person, I don't believe you and strongly suggest another form of income until you build up some capital. And even then, join a propshop if u want to make a living solely from trading. surf Ps nice journal. By the way
Thanks for the advice. The answer to your question is no. I have not been lucky. I have been studying. For 3 damned years. Day in and day fuggin' out. Oh, sorry for this late edit southall...Yes, I had a VERY bad year 18 months ago. Lost a big chunk of change. So I am not immune to very bad things happening. It is why I had to pull myself up from my bootstraps and try again. It has been a tough road. But I will never give up. Persistence and patience pays dividends. I will always believe that, because it is true.
That is your opine. The fact that you think the journal is nice, but then state in the very same post that you do not believe me and that I should find another form of income speaks volumes about your conviction that people can actually make real money trading without being millionaires. What is your angle Mr. Surf? Are you purposely trying to scare away people from trading? Are you the boy who cries wolf? ' Why are you trying to piss in everyone's Cheerios?
Hey Southall... I tried to find your post but couldn't.... did you say never use more than 1% of your portfolio on a single stock trade? That sounds a little slim. Maybe more like 8% imo. Of course I'm talking for mom and pops... not 100MM fund.
So am I. That is why I posted a redacted broker statement for algofy, who asked for "proof" that I was keeping it real, as it were. I'm sorry, but that is the best I can do to show proof. If you choose to not believe it, then you better check yourself, and dig down deep to find your own personal motivations for dis-believing everything anyone ever types on a forum. There ARE real people 'round these parts you know. Please try to add positivity to the community, not detract from it. Thanks much!
We not allowed to cross post on smurfs thread. But this one time: i risk between 2 and 5% normally. Less if im doing badly. Newbs shouldnt risk this much.
No offense meant, but there are rooms full of PhD's that can't make the returns you need to make a consistent living with $100k.
That depends on what one's living expenses are, now doesn't it? It doesn't take a PhD in blah blah blah to figure that part out.
Make no mistake, i don't doubt you make money and no need to post proof for me. Im speaking from experience with 100's of traders etc. could you be special? The next wizard? Sure, but i have never seen it. Peace
