1. While it's shamefully true that surf has a very bad habit of pretending to be other people (albeit with proper capitalization this time- an unusual change of pace!) the bottom line is that he's still a rather valuable asset to ET. His punishment was far too extreme, IMO. Getting blown to bits instead of the slight wrist slap he may have deserved... sorry, that's just disproportionate.

Seriously Magna, please consider how much 'harm' surf has actually done to ET, vs. how much harm you've just dished out to him in return.

RM,

On the surface, if I were an outsider and didn't know the history nor underlying story, I might think you have a point. But this has nothing to do with the ridiculous aliases that marketsurfer adopts en masse (if it did, garymiami would already be toast). There are many years of a multitude of TOS violations -- and I'm not referring to the neverending stream of aliases, although that's yet another in a long list -- promises made and continually broken, public whines and condemnations about anything and everything as if this were his website and he can do whatever he damn well pleases, requests and warnings from both Baron and myself summarily dismissed and ignored. It's an accumulation years in the making, one of those things where enough is enough.

BTW, I didn't ban the marketsurfer alias although I'm not against it, and it obviously hasn't put the slightest dent in the frequency of his posting. I did, however, close the journal as he said he would no longer post to it, whined in yet another public thread about censorship, ignored warning after warning with regards to promoting a commercial site, and ignored warning after warning about posting political commentary in a journal. I'm not sure what you are referring to as being "too extreme" (the loss of a single alias?? the closing of a single thread??) or "how much harm you've dished out to him" (harm?? Please...) but we have bent over backwards putting up with the marketsurfer shenanigans and violations over the years and enough is enough.

3. I'm not sure what you are referring to as being "too extreme" (the loss of a single alias?? the closing of a single thread??) or "how much harm you've dished out to him" (harm?? Please...)

I just meant that surf's journal thread meant a lot to him, so permanently eliminating it probably caused much pain & grief.

Magna, I've never walked in your shoes, so I concede the fact that I can't see the entire picture behind the steps you took.
Maybe if I had all the information your action wouldn't have seemed so disproportionate... or maybe not. No one was sticking up for surf, so I felt that filling that void would be the right thing for me to do.

I'm just saying that from my (limited) perspective, IMO surf is an asset to ET, so it's a shame it has come to this. Peace...

Pekelo

This thread is most likely MOOT, because Surf probably has an exclusivity agreement with Yahoo and AOL, so he wouldn't/couldn't post here anymore....

So, anyone has pictures of nice ladies???

P.S.: Surf's journal lost its integrity when he stopped posting trade exits...

6. This is marketsurfer. I just wanted to clarify a few things, first thanks for the kind words and support.

Secondly-- The marketsurfer alias and all of our IP's have been banned from elitetrader, regardless of what moderator Magna will lead you to believe.

Thirdly-- I was banned due to posting links to MY and OTHER's articles. These links were posted, in the same manner that 1000's of other links are posted to bloomberg, Yahoo, MSN, AOL, WSJ, Barrons, Forbes, etc etc etc on elitetrader--YET, these posts and posters do not get banned or harassed in any way. These are not competitive sites to elitetrader. In fact, in a recent article, I mention elitetrader in a positive light. Moderator Magna says its due to the commercial nature of the sites-- well Moderator Magna-- there are 1000's of links existing on elitetrader to commercial sites yet they remain.

Fourth-- Any of the dreaded politico commentary posted by marketsurfer on his journal was directly meshing with market commentary or futures markets on the political process. Not simply rants for or against a candidate and are extremely relevant economically and marketwise.

I believe I was unfairly censored, targeted and banned. However, elite is a private enterprise and has the right to do what it wishes.

regards,

marketsurfer

7. Surf, you'd best find a way to come back. We have so much unfinished business to take care of, including, but not limited to, trend trading and Mr. Niederhoffer. There is so much left to say.
:)

10. Surf....You know I like you ....but with all due respect....get a life....People get banned al the time, they just make a new name and continue...

( imagine Howard Cossell talking)
Let me tell you a little story about a man named..."Optional777"....he put a couple 1000 posts up and got banned....so he became ARogueTrader....put up another couple thousand posts and got banned...So then he switched to Fe Fo FUm...ditto with that user...today we know this great Elite Stalker as ZZZZZZZZzzzzz

So ya see kid...where there is a wll there is a way.
