Five years ago this was done, it's expected in five years this will be possible with humans. How is this going to change things? How will conservatives find a way to condem it so as not to lose their wedge issue? They will attack it despite knowing it can transform the outcome for tens of thousands of premature babies.
Yes, of course. And this is a point that has to be settled. The most straight forward approach is to decide whether a fetus is a human being with a life potentially independent of the mother. If it is not, than the fetus issue is settled. If it is, than the issues revolves around the hierarchy of rights, are the mother's superior to that of the fetus, etc. It is easy to see why the Courts wanted to avoid potential quagmires by ruling on scientific arguments at which point a fetus becomes a human being with potentially a life independent of the Mother's.
In Leaked Abortion Decision, Justice Alito Relies on Jurist Who Supported Marital Rape, Executed 'Witches' The draft Supreme Court opinion striking down Roe v. Wade heavily references Sir Matthew Hale, a 17th century Brit who dehumanized women. https://jezebel.com/supreme-court-roe-v-wade-draft-cites-sir-matthew-hale-1848872890
Cool theory bro, but there aren't any inalienable rights, not if the government can decide who, where, when and to what degree those rights are given. We don't always get the soft version of authoritarianism, sometimes they get drunk with power and then people see the government for what it really is. They're not here to help, they don't care about your life, liberty and pursuit of happiness or any other of that high minded bullshit, they care about running the show, period. The powers that be want this country divided and this will increase that divide. Extreme violence in the streets is the end game, then they can come to save us from ourselves. The hammer comes down, martial law, curfews, papers please, etc., etc., and it will never end once in place. Six months to a year, tops, before implementation of operation, unwashed masses left us no choice.
This crazy shit has a definite appeal to you and a subset of the population. No question about that. Fortunately it is a small subset.
Somewhat unrelated to the abortion issue I ask where in Texas did Musk move Tesla headquarters to? Anyone? That's right, Austin. Travis County, TX where almost 72% of the voters in 2020 picked Joe Biden. Bet Silicon Valley San Jose, CA had a similar result. And Silicon Alley, NYC. And Boston's Tech Corridor. Where did tRump win big; Mesa County, CO, Barry County, MI and Lander County, NV, lots of open space and not much else. Dems with midterms coming up say thank you very much to the Supremes.
