Well the county board of ed is the government aren't they? The district is a public school system. If this were a private school then I would agree that it is a problem with the school but this is a whole district of schools. If they impose strict restrictons on only gay teachers then there is a problem. If you put up pictures, we will punish you. If they are saying there will be restrictions there will have to be punishment for non-compliance.
if you dont know the difference between the government and a private employer then I dont have enough crayon to explain it to you. The NFL or Amazon or CISCO can make whatever rules about praying in the middle of their private employer workspace. We are talking about a public school system (separation of church and state, not church and private entities) Again, if you dont know the difference there is not enough crayon in the box to color it for you.
What if I am a Sikh and wear my turban when I come in to school after being hired as a teacher. I am good to go or you have to terminate me?
Sotomayor says Gorsuch flubbed prayer case facts (and she’s right) The Supreme Court’s conservative majority appears to have misrepresented relevant details — and Sonia Sotomayor brought photographs to prove it. https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow...h-flubbed-prayer-case-facts-s-right-rcna35644
Maybe if Sotomayor and her law clerk leaked an early draft on this case, as they did on Dodd, then there would have been more time to examine it and push back. I am sure the new one coming on board- Che Guevera's sister- will be a peach too.
Why would I fire you? Is a turban forcing others to participate in a religious activity? Are the other students forced to wear turbans or maybe not do well in the class? Does the teach make hte other students gather in the middle of the school and all put on turbans? Are you being obtuse on purpose because you ran out of arguments?
So you are saying for example that if I am a Catholic priest or a nun belonging to an order than I can teach in a public classroom with my garb on as long as I do not initiate religious dialogue or actions? Also, don't go on the rag when I am just trying to get some information on your view. And by all means keep in mind what I have said to Usual Tard about Roe, which is "it is your side and view that ran out of arguments." Mine worked fine before the court. Yours were losers. Your ilk ran out of arguments.
Actually we must accommodate religious obligations as employers through an interactive process per federal law unless it creates an undue hardship. https://www.eeoc.gov/laws/guidance/what-you-should-know-workplace-religious-accommodation
First of all the constitutional basis of Roe wasn’t before the court in the Mississippi case. The AG for Mississippi said so himself during the hearing and after the decision. So it wasn’t any arguments that persuaded the court but activist judges with an agenda. I will also add your question about the turban falls under “business necessity”. If the turban contradicts a uniform used for a business reason then the employer is not obligated to accommodate. This was an issue in the military. The clerical “uniform” creates an interesting question within the context of the wacky Kennedy decision. Where is the religious line now?
