this is probably the most arrogant title for a thread i have ver seen in any forum anywhere in my 30 years. that is like saying since more than 3-4billion people have no use for fork spoons and use their hand or chop sticks ......those things have no use or utility on a table. The most ardent 'non user of indicators DR AL BROOKS-God bless him- uses a moving average. Thanks to the great man i make thousands of usd every day only by using this ma. everything that Brooks uses is simple and this is the most simple and along with a little price action and a healthy dose of observation, can be a mint. All i do, is wait for second leg or forth leg, that is slightly weak and 'far' away from the ma and wait for a sell signal, if the second leg, is in a bear or buy signal, in a bull and look to fade the signal. i just traded one such set up or situation in the e mini just 10 minutes back......shorting after two bull climaxes and two weak break outs after the climaxes. i do this type of trade at least 3-4 times in the day and while it may be extremely dangerous for the uninitiated and inexperienced, it is very lucrative for me since it is a trap for the trend traders. the chart is self explanatory .i closed my trade after that last bear bar because there was no interest from the bulls, even near the ma and i got suspicious that this was at attempt to lull the bears into complacency. I sometimes , outsmart myself but ......i do not trust the market especially when it gives easy money..... one of the best way to evaluate trades is to see if they look obvious- this then means that the it is a high probability trade so money is easy but it is also little-this is one ASPECT that novices forget and you usually have to scalp out or risk a trap.it is good to understand that there is no easy money and when it looks like it is there for picking ,it is scalp only hope this helps you
You think I'm stupid? I've been through that phase already! That's MA(1) displaced forward x days. But you know what? I've tested that strategy extensively in the past and it's not all that good. There will be some serious hiccups that you've not anticipated before.
To borrow your own words, I suggest you look "deeper". There's a better method than the one you outlined.
