  4. You are talking about holding onto a strategy during a losing period because you believe to be a sound strategy. Based, I presume, on previous evidence.
In that case, I disagree that sticking with the strategy requires "faith". Faith is belief that doesn't rest on logical proof or material evidence. The idea that the strategy was successful is based on reason. Sticking with it requires overcoming your fears. "Faith" doesn't enter the picture.

  5. wrong. you only give half a definition.

there is a difference between rational/ informed faith and irrational/ blind faith.

they are not the same, not by a longshot. all assumptions of pattern continuation or observation consistency extended into future periods are based on faith of some kind. all evidence is theoretically fallible and thus requires faith for full acceptance.

modern society has made faith a pejorative term, but this is because society has an ego complex and a desire for the illusion of control. this is arrogant and short sighted.

all men practice faith on a regular basis whether they know it or not. it's not a dirty word, it's a fact of reality.

    Daniel,

Nice to see you around :)

Following your definition of what faith is, then one would have to conclude that it enters the picture everytime a decision is made to enter the market... For there is absolutely no logical proof or material evidence that the future will play out in the same way as the past... Therefore following your def of faith it is very much needed IMO

As always PEACE and good trading,

  8. Darkhorse was talking about sticking to a "winning" strategy when it is going through a losing period. How did he determine it was a "winning" one, or a "successful" one? Through use of his rational faculty. It's not "logical proof" but it is EVIDENCE. If sticking with the strategy is based on reason it cannot be based on faith.
Obviously, if you take "faith" to mean something similar like "belief" or "percpeption" and you take those terms to the extremes, everything we "know" is really just some form of a belief. Why do you feel certain turning a door knob will open a door? Only your brain learned it worked from a very young age.

PS- nice to see u guys again. been busy developing other strategies, in case my nas stocks all drop below 20 (a distinct possibility), in which case my current strategy wouldn't be as effective. tell ya what, trading listed stocks appears more appealing all the time.
