.......and yet my impression of you is opposite to this. You are outspoken, quick to respond, willing to display your obvious intellect, deep and thoughtful......If I could pick a handle for you it would be galloping steed instead. You are a leading contributor to these boards.

    Just my observation.

    Cheers

  7. i agree with the concept of the big bang. the red shift phenomenon does suggest a center point that the universe has been expanding from. while i do understand that space and time were created from the big bang, the most puzzling thing for me is this: what was before the big bang? if nothing, how did we get something from nothing? how did the big bang even occur if there was nothing before it? where did the big bang come from? what made it start? i realize these aren't easy questions, but what does current knowledge suggest?

  8. i've always thought that this is one of the greatest pictures i've ever seen in my life. in case you don't know, i'll explain it briefly.. the planets in our solar system, including earth, orbit the sun. our solar system is just one solar system of many in our milky way galaxy. in this picture, you are seeing many many galaxies. to top it off, this picture is just a speck of the sky. if you were to look at the sky, this image would represent the width of a dime 75 feet away.

and just remember, as the bible says, we're the only planet with life, everything is here just for us, and the sun revolves around the earth. wake up people, stop ignoring science. science should be your religion.

Isn't space an integral part of the universe? That why the question: how can you have something without the nothing around it to define it? Both need to coexist. Maybe space is the dark matter, dark energy, but still part of the universe.

BTW, this is a great thread!
