i am a strength athlete, so i eat a LOT of protein (150-250 gms day) but apart from that... i make sure every morning i get PLENTY f hydration, some EFA (essential fatty acids) either from nuts, or fish oil, etc. i get some complex carbs as well every morning, like irish oatmeal (which isn't rolled like conventional oatmeal and has more nutrients) im also big on phytonutrients so will try to get a nice dose of very deeply colored vegetables in the morning, either raw, or juiced for supps, I take multivitamins, brewers yeast, r-isomer of alpha lipoic acid, acetyl-l-carnitine I'm also big on eggs. eggs are a phenomenal protein source, as well as a great source of lecithin, etc. imo, nutrition is a big part of the sound mind, sound body principle. this game is VERY mental, so why would one shortchange one's body and one's mind without fully fueling it
Does intaking this much protein really make a difference? I drink one shake in the morning, and another after I workout. THat comes out to 60g. I intake a little protein throughout the day. I eat tuna for lunch. SOmetimes for I'll get some protein for dinner too. But I don't think it comes out to 150g+. Oatmeal always does good for me in the morning. Juice and plenty of water, that's after like 2 pots of coffee. Lunch - tuna or turkey sand, whole wheat and a banana. Dinner - whatever you can get your hands on really.
I go to the Gym for my aerobic workout after eating a light breakfast (I cannot eat complex carbs in the morning, but that is just me...you gotta' learn your body in a healthy lifestyle). I am leaving now for the Gym...it is 9:38 (est) I am late. I feel much better now getting those extra pounds off..I have a lot more to go...I go to the gym in the afternoon also. Michael B.
"Does intaking this much protein really make a difference?" ime, it does. it's hard to do a controlled experiment type of thing. i would certainly rather err on the side of caution (more protein than needed) than not be getting enuf protein and essentially be wasting my workout efforts. i started lifting as a 170 lb athlete. i am now over 220, with a slightly lower bf percentage. it is a CONSTANT effort to get enough protein and calories. i go through eggs, meat, and protein powder like crazy.
Yeah I think I get enough . . . just wondering if had seen a difference vs. less protein. I know it helps maintain muscle. I do like 3 weeks aerobic and 3 weeks strenghth. Try tuna. . .it has tonnes of protein and it's easy to prepare. Do you drink raw eggs? or is that just in the movies? lol
i do use tuna. i am a big red meat fan, and i also do chicken of course i do not do raw eggs. there are issues with protein absorption in raw albumin (see: avidin iirc). you can use egg whites international, or cook em
Myself; I started lifting at 150 lb . I am now over 220 I have been enthusiastic about weightlifting/bodybuilding now for over 10 years. But now after following diets more extreme than yours, I just eat healthy and have a normal protein rich diet, and I get better results I also fast 24/48 hours occasionally  I have found many parallels in bodybuilding to trading (ie in regards to the above).
i think genetics plays a big part as well some people, with a more mesomorphic structure can get more benefit from less. others need more to get less but if it works for you, that's all that matters i've done olympic weightlifting and powerlifting, never bbing. but if there is one thing i have seen after working with many athletes (some world class), it is that there is a lot of individual variation in response to training and diet although the basics are always true.
