You go ask her. LOL. I heard that in the first podcast she posted. I guess not everybody was sophisticated at the beginning. She was in her 30s then.

I mean this is not something we haven't heard of every now and then. Remember the guy who put all his and his family's money (4+m) in an VIX related ETF (don't remember the ticker) and lost it all over night?

Regardless what she is, I learned something from her and use the DMA (my own version of course) in trading and it is helpful.

  3. So, a naïve math PhD who's also a programmer that prides herself on relying on logic? Who sold a successful business for 8 figures in the early '80s?

And you're comparing her to a moron who put everything into a risky trade?

    Okay.

Come on. I am not here to defend her, but I don't think you understand ANYTHING about trading despite all the time you wasted on this website. Trading is NOT a profession like other jobs, programmers, math heads, doctors, whatnot. logic or not, success in other professions seldom translates into success in trading.

So what you are trying to say is she was lying in her podcast about her experience. Well that's fine with me. You can keep your opinion and I can't care less.

Well, she didn't. Or at least she didn't lose money due to a brokerage scam. That part of the story is not true. I emailed her this morning and here is her answer:

"It is almost true. I lost $10 million to embezzlement overnight. It had nothing to do with the brokerage. It had to do with power of atty."

A trusted employee screwed her over, not a brokerage.

I did. :) (because that kind of guy I am)

It was a power of attorney embezzlement, not a brokerage one.

My apologies. I heard embezzlement in the podcast, and assumed it was the brokerage.

  8. WTF are you talking about? Yeah, trading may be different from other occupations, but putting all the money you have with a single broker (that was your version of events) has less to do with "trading" than it does with simple common sense.

Well, that does put a different complexion on the reported circumstances. Even so, it does seem extreme to give an employee a general POA over all of your assets, no matter how trusted that employee may be. Again, we're back to the simple common sense thing. Quite a misstep for a logician, don't you think?

FF, I apologize for my offhand comments. You have every right to question her background. I will leave it that.

As for those who are interested in learning her methods, I would say her momentum-weighted moving average is very unique, deserves more research if you want to use it in your trading.
