    Lucrum

I saw that when it was broadcast I believe last year.

What the teacher unions and school boards are doing to our public schools is outrageous.

I agree. Yea so, what can be done about it? Nothing. When your kid comes home from school, you gotta teach him/her yourself. True, a waste of taxpayer money to some extent, well there's an answer to that, be a teacher, a union official, get some you tax money back. It's a joke. The regents diploma is a set up for failure for some kids.

  3. Ron Paul is ridiculed for wanting to eliminate the Dept of Ed. yet the republicans used to advocate this elimination till they were taken over by the neocons.

  4. This would be believeable if Stossel wasn't the reporter. The right wing hack likes to omit facts and do some nice editing to get his point across.

Check out "charter schools" on wikipedia and you'll find there really is no difference in terms of performance between public and charter schools.

  5. What's interesting is that within the US the smartest states are:

    Vermont
    Massachusetts,
    Connecticut,
    New Jersey
    Maine.

    And the "dumbest" states:

    Arizona in last place,
    Nevada
    Mississippi
    California
    Alaska.

It of course does not take a rocket scientist to notice that all five "smartest" states are heavily democratic while four out of five "dumbest" states are republican, three of them (Arizona, Mississippi and Alaska) are heavily republican.

  6. home school the lil shits on the internet. let them watch lectures on youtube. if their families don't care.. why should we?

  7. Oh yes, the smartest. Such factors when determining the smartest were:

    -expenditures per student

    -class size

    -student teacher ratio

all per the page you linked to.

What it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out, is that this study was bought and paid for by

    TEACHERS UNIONS

In other words, the study was contrived and useless, unless the purpose is to further liberal ends. (just like about every study you site concerning education or health)

  8. wow.. foxy got one right finally. please excuse doodoo, he is ET's uber-marxist.

Actually this is just one of many surveys they conduct, most of them have nothing to do with education. If you question one you should question all of them.

The Smartest State Award is one of six designations announced annually by Morgan Quitno Press. The company's other annual announcements designate the nation’s Safest and Most Dangerous City and Metro Area, the Most Livable State, the Healthiest State, the Safest and Most Dangerous States and Most Improved State. Each award or designation is based on data from annual Morgan Quitno reference publications.
