Why do you dislike the uneducated so much? There are more uneducated people in your democratic party, than the republican party. Those uneducated democrats vote for the same candidates that you vote for.
I respect your opinion but at the same time I think it is in denial of reality and where we are headed. And as I have said, even those who are not cut out to be engineers or "knowledge workers" can be accommodated . We don't need to fight change to do that.
I don't know where these Ideas comes from. If I say I am exasperated with the Republicans, it doesn't mean I am enamored with democrats. If I quote Trump saying "We love the uneducated" it doesn't mean I "dislike the uneducated."
If anything economists are worse man, i remember when i was getting my degree in economics, at the same time i was trading. Some dickwad university prof was trying to tell our class that if the fed raises interest rates the bond market has to follow, I literally showed this guy a chart of TLT sky rocketing the day rates got increased, cause i was just a trader by that point. Those kind of guys live in the world of "Theories" and "Hypotheticals" and never dip their foot in the water to see the way the real world works. This Economics prof gave me 12 million different reasons why that could happen but didnt realise that the bond market like every market reacts based on future expectations. It was pretty funny. This guy may have been the dumbest person i ever met.
Community colleges usually have very decent welding/machining programs for a penny. Decent schedules plus school loan interest rates can always be deducted from taxable income.
The minimum wage argument is a little tough for me. I'm really on the fence about this. I hate leftists calling it a "living wage" Because they are not really talking about a living wage, they are talking about a "standard of living wage" A wage that is enough for food, clothing and shelter, plus a car, gas, insurance, medical, cable, cell phone, ect. When minimum wage first came out, people on it didn't have cars, medical insurance, TV, phones, ect. So all their money really was going to food clothing & shelter. But that said, I don't think we should abolish the minimum wage. We don't want to end up like a 3rd world country where businesses only pay people $1 per hour, and we know there are many business owners out there that would do that. I think we should tie the minimum wage locally and to prices of 1 bdrm apartments. Perhaps 3 times the average 1 bdrm apartment rent. If a 1 bdrm costs $700 per month in your town, then $2,100 should be the bare minimum. That comes out to about $12.60 per hour for that case. That would definitely be fair the majority of the country, although that would definitely destroy places like San Francisco where a 1 bdrm averages $3,500 per month. Can't imagine having to pay a starbucks barista $10k per month in wages and surviving so there's a problem. So to sum it up, I believe there should be a minimum wage, but it should be the bare minimum to take care of yourself and maybe 1 other person/family member MINIMALLY. If you want things like cable, cell phone and car, get a 2nd job or a roommate.
If you think instead of the true cost of minimum wage labor you will immediately recognize that that must include not only food, clothing and shelter, but also medical and dental care, transportation and communication. There is no way around that. As an employer you'll likely not hire a sickly person with bad teeth who can not get to the job nor communicate with you, or you with them.

HOGWASH! Wages should be set by the market. If you're an employer who offers a job at "$___ per hour" and you can't find people to take the job for that pay, then you have to raise the pay... until the jobs are filled. THAT'S how the market should work. Nobody is "entitled" to anything... except for what they earn for themselves.
That's not true. I've seen plenty of people with bad teeth with jobs. I've also seen plenty of people without phones with jobs. Sure there are specific jobs that would require you to have a car and a phone, but they aren't usually minimum wage jobs. I know some of you younger guys out there can't fathom how an employer could hire someone without a phone, but they can. In fact, a person who goes into the place of employment and asks to speak to the hiring manager every day has a way better shot of getting hired than the kid that calls on his cell phone asking for a job.
