Probably going to miss a couple great trades. The market will tempt you that way. :)

True. So I have a handful of automated OTO orders with hard and trailing stops set up at new highs to address my fomo.

  3. In my opinion, stress is caused by trading wrong for your comfort level.

As young men, my brother was a repo man and would have no problem breaking into locked garages in bad neighborhoods to repo a Porsche while I sometimes would drive him to the repo site. It was legal to repo, but not break in the garages. I was terrified just being in the driver car while he disappeared behind the dark fences, but he was cool as ice as the garage door flew open and out rolls his prize. He obviously had no amygdala and if he was alive and trading today, he would be trading crypto in a highly leveraged account. I mostly trade ITM covered calls in my IRA's and day trade MNQ Futures in a spec account.

    1) Trade smaller: Stress is usually due to position size as it relates to account size. Would one share of SPY stress you out? If not, double it, etc. until you find a reasonable level to trade that you can feel comfortable holding for the duration of your trading plan.
    2) Change your expectations: If you're under the gun to make a certain amount of money per day, but that dollar number requires too much leverage (stress), stop! Get another source of income (job) until your comfortable trading sizes as above and your account size are in alignment.
    3) As others have said, switch to swinging with smaller size, but wider strokes and not so tight of targets.

Sure, you could exercise and take breathing lessons, learn to sing while you're at it, but that's just putting a Band-Aid on your situation. Trading shouldn't be painful. or necessarily fun, just profitable as a business.

I'll add, when I first started trading futures, I had my starting account amount + my loss fund, which was $2k. My idea was, if I lost that $2k I would have to save up money from outside of trading and replace it before I could trade that account again. Now my loss fund amount is the prior days profit. If I make $500 the previous day, that's all I can risk the current trading day. Yes, if I lose it, I have to replace it with funds from outside my trading. It keeps me from going nuts and completely removes the stress of trading, at least for me.

  5. I would agree/disagree in that knowing how to sing on stage doesn't take away the fear of doing it in front of people, only experience and confidence from that experience does that. Some people wouldn't do it, even after watching countless episodes of American Idol.

Ex-girlfriend's hitting you up for $ lol

Very true point about trading too much size causes stress. That's my biggest limitation. So for example yesterday I did over 75 round trips no more than 400 shares each, versus 1000 + share trades. I couldn't resist trading uvxy all afternoon, worked great. :D
