lol he single handedly destroyed the US auto industry. Congrats. Real Genius.

With modern supply chains, a single component in a vehicle can cross the U.S. border between six and eight times before final assembly. Trump's order makes it clear that duty is payable every time any component crosses into the U.S. — there's no "drawback" allowed that limits the tariff to just the value added abroad.

Trumpo is solely ideological when pleasing his patrons. Bessent stated that the only priority is the tax cuts -> trumpo cannot control the purse directly (tried) so tariffs pay for the tax cuts.

Speculation is there will be layoffs in the US auto industry within a week. So much winning. Oil up 3% early trading.

Any speculative layoffs for Canada? It is a war you know. If American consumers are going to be the people that pay the Trump tariffs as so many have indicated in this thread, then why is Canada worried about the American tariffs and why are they retaliating with tariffs themselves. Does this mean Canadians will pay their own tariffs or are we Americans consumers going to pay for our American tariffs AND pay for the tariffs Canada and Mexico slap on us in retaliation? Come on now which is it?

Tariffs are a wonderful way for countries to fund their government and may even make it possible to do away with internal taxes. And they do away with globalism and globalization and excessive dependency on other countries.
