no, they (futures, options) are zero sum because of the structure of the market stocks are not. it is impossible, by the nature of the market, for more money to be won than lost in futures or vice versa (not accounting for commissions) on the worst day ever, where the dow drops 50% in one day, exactly as much money will be won as lost. the net is ZERO. hence, zero sum this is not true of the stock market.
