Traders who cry manipulation will never be successful. Until they take ownership for the trades they put on... they'll never be successful.

You can't fix trading errors if you refuse to take responsibility them....

If anyone does in fact manipulate the markets, it would have zero effect on my trading decisions... I simply trade my edges and if the so-called manipulation fits the profile of my edge... I trade it with predefined risk. If it doesn't work out, I move on to the next trade. Big deal, because I know it's a probability game. Just like a casino that operates on an edge, I do the same and my equity climbs accordingly.

  2. Guess it depends what you call manipulation. Organized buying and selling ? Sure, how elso can you explain 100, 200, 300 point swings in an hours time. This is random ? It is normal at the moment. Not sure we are fully recessed, or about to be. To much new technology to improve efficiency, lower costs, and grow business. Too bad the fix to the housing and financial issues is being slow rolled. Try lowering the 30 year fixed rate for 4.9 percent and see what happens.

  3. I think Batman was just saying that he is convinced markets are manipulated NOT that trading doesn't work.

I myself am suspicious that this selloff is occuring just in enough time for Big Money to buy back in before earnings for alot of great companies that are raking it in when there is no proof of a recession just propaganda. Upgrades, downgrades like a YOYO from the same analysts who are supposed professionals. I Do not mean to say that there are no economice concerns.

Just responding to the OP about possible manipulations.

  5. idiot boy, a daytrader shared his inner thoughts, in thread form, of how to approach the mkts from a daytrading perspective. Then you fly in here and start spewing something totally different. You are clueless when it comes to daytrading, so stick to what you know best and keep your nose out of what you do not.

Get a life Batman. Profit has it right. He understands the nature of markets and that they are legitimately and legally "manipulated" every day by buying and selling in size, and a few less savory tactics such as naked short selling. This is all part and parcel of the nature of markets, which competent traders, such as Profit, take advantage of. It was clear to most of us that when Profit said markets were not manipulated he meant that moving price intentionally by legal means is normal, and you should not blame your inept trading on market manipulation. I agree with Profit.

  8. Clown, I don't think he's talking about a government conspiracy LOL.

I think he is talking about perhaps Macro Long Bond/Short Equity Funds moving the market one way or inexplicable days like today where
perversely Financials short positions were covered by selling everything else.

  9. You can whine all day long if you're losing money, it won't make a lick of difference.

The answer is simple. Whether there is manipulation or not is irrelevant. ........

Take what they give you and use it to your advantage.
