stocks vs. commodities

  1. hi all,

I've been trading stocks now for about two years - profitably! it took me many years of trial and error and about $20,000+ until one day it just clicked. I'm thick-headed and had to make the same mistakes over and over and over again before i recognized (and memorized) what i was doing. it took me a long time, but i stuck with it. it is my belief though that you need a certain mentality and personality to be profitable.

Anyway. if one is profitable trading stocks can that person just as easily trade futures. i know there is more leverage trading futures, so that alone has to have some kind of effect on the mind, but are the price movements similiar, charts patterns etc. the same?

thanks in advance and god bless,

  3. I think it depends a lot on what futures markets you plan to trade and what style you use to trade stocks. I don't think you can use a typical stock scalping style successfully on most futures markets, at least not as an off floor trader. Too much slippage.
