Just curious if anyone successfully transitioned into trading futures after trading stocks. Plus what are the main differences?

    Thanks

There are differences. Futures margins (i.e. performance bonds) are much lower, giving newbies enough leverage to go broke a LOT faster. And it is just as easy to sell short as to buy long. Futures accounts have no SIPC insurance.

Is this why they initiated MF Global to diminish competition?Too many smart asses with big accounts?
