  1. Uh, yah that's it. This STOCK market isn't any tougher, and traders on average aren't doing any worse, its the negative bias on this board, right?

  2. Doesn't it just? :D

I managed 8 net per car that day. Taking 1/2 a point here and a point there etc. It would have been more but for a couple of mistakes made that cost me.

Trading the e-minis it is possible to make consistent gains in spite of what some stock traders think, but I think you do have to understand the market you are trading to make money regardless.

Mostly I'm using a tick chart and market depth, add an avarage, and a stochastic. I'm constantly changing time frames and comparing the indices for alligned movements.

Also anomalies do exist in the e-minis. The dynamics are not the same between them and very different from stocks again, but where a single tick in your favour is a profit (albeit small) whittling away at it is a good way build a day, especially when the market is essentially going nowhere at all...

    :)

  3. About the current choppy conditions, please stop the whining.

When the trend following stops working you need to adapt your style to fading moves instead of following them. Since you are looking at smaller moves, take bigger position sizes, shorten your holding periods, and take profits at smaller increases.
Be careful because you will want to do the opposite when you get big trending days. Use the MAs on trending days, BBands on choppy days.

Of course your style that worked so well for you in the past will stop working at some point. A good trader then adapts to the current conditions, or will be forced to quit.

  7. good post bro...

no doubt... I was telling my GF last night after screwing up some SPX options positions all month... from over-reacting to the whipsaw action... that I have to re-think my options strategies in the current climate.

She however thought that nothing was needed beyond a 3 week vacation to some comfortable, exotic locale... with private beach, hot tub, jacuzzi, large cozy bed, champagne/strawberries... and her erotic 'touch'!

HEY... who am I to argue with a woman! :D
