Yes, if there is a bear the index will get hit, but so will every other index. During the subprime selloff in August the index held up well and now it has beaten the market by 40%. So I'm sure it could easily weather another large selloff.
Right now, you are benefiting from multiple expansion + Growth (two ways of growth); the exact opposite happens in bear markets. However, your thesis as we evolve to a new civilization is there are no more bear markets, so theoretically it won't happen again. However, if you are wrong, the index gets hit both ways, multiple contraction + negative/flat growth. (Thats why these stocks get hit so hard and why they perform so well during bull cycles).
Thats a big if though. A bear market could happened if there is an existential risk that threatens humanity such as a 2< km meteorite impact, pandemic, gamma ray burst ,etc The transition to type 1 civilization is inevitable and the indications of this transition are already apparent. The fantastic rise of google is an example of this ,as well as the the staggering growth of online networks as well as signs of so called economic and financial 'perpetualism'. The actual transition won't happen for another fifty of so years. 'perpetualism' is explained in greater detail here: http://elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=1643731&highlight=perpetualism#post1643731

its like the IPOD You dont ask how or why the consumer can keep spending money on those gizmos. They just do. Huge day for the index so easy to make money. I wish there was an ETF that could track all of these picks because it would be much simpler than having to buy each sotck individually.
Another great day making $$ in stocks is so easy if you follow my methods. I know almost everything about stocks, trends, and the market. You cant go wrong following my advice.
Thanks for the offer stock, but I think i'll stick to trading. 4 months is not much of a track record. Maybe Fidelity will hire you!
