Stock stopped trading. Then what?

  1. Hi guys,

what happens to investor's position in a stock of a company which has been aquired by another company and thus stopped trading under its original symbol?

Lets say investor X was long in SFA prior to its acquisition by CSCO. Assuming that he/she (investor) had forgotten about his/her long, what would happen to his/her position in SFA which stopped trading on 2/24/06?

Would it just be liquidated at the current market price by broker?

  2. Depending on the terms, you will either recieve cash for your shares, cash and stock, or just stock in the acquiring company.

  3. allright. I see.

    Thank you
