This White House obviously believes that the American people are beyond stupid.

" It's no longer about counting a job as saved or created; now it's a matter of counting jobs funded by the stimulus.

That means that any stimulus money used to cover payroll will be included in the jobs credited to the program, including pay raises for existing employees and pay for people who never were in jeopardy of losing their positions...........

Numbers published last month identified more than 640,000 jobs linked to stimulus projects around the country"

    ------

Now their counting "JOBS LINKED" to the stimulus. Their trumpeting jobs where stimulus money has been used for pay raises.

If this wasn't true, it would be hysterical....

  4. This always happens. The formula to calculate unemployment has changed at least twice since 1980, starting with Reagan. So, now we will see all the jobs the stimulus has magically created despite the fact that the UE number keeps rising...

  5. Many years ago I worked with a guy who had been there for decades, it was a retail job; my first job and he was a lifer. He said all the numbers that the gov't and the newspapers put out are BS when it comes to the economy, and he used headlights.

He always worked the late shift and drove home at night, so he counted the number of cars with a headlight out on his short drive home, the idea being people naturally put off small purchases if they are worried about their money situation. No headlights out meant things are good. 1 out and he started paying more attention. 2 out and he started socking a little money away for a rainy day. 3 or more out and he knew his hours were about to be cut.
