OK, Obama's going to tighten the screws on the kids.

The White House on Monday warned it may have to cancel the 135th annual Easter Egg Roll due to financial uncertainty, including a “potential government shutdown.”

The Easter Egg Roll is the latest so-called victim of the nation’s financial troubles. The Obama administration has been heavily criticized over its recent decision to cancel all White House tours, citing the mandatory cuts known as sequestration.

Republicans began complaining about the following official White House memo on Monday, which warns of the potential shutdown of the yearly event scheduled for April 1:

“Finally, by using these tickets, guests are acknowledging that this event is subject to cancellation due to funding uncertainty surrounding the Executive Office of the President and other federal agencies…If cancelled, the event will not be re-scheduled. We will notify you if there are any modifications to this event.”

    More from the Washington Post:

House and Senate members received the memo last week, along with the notice that each congressional family would receive a total of five tickets; Politico first reported news of it Monday.

Former House speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) was quick to attack the Obama administration over the issue, tweeting: “Shameless! How else can you describe the threat to cancel white house Easter egg hunt? Maybe pathetic, demagogic? You try to find right words.”

A White House official confirmed to the Post that the warning did indeed go out to all ticket-holders.

“Because we distribute tickets to the Easter Egg Roll far in advance, we alerted all ticket holders that this event is subject to cancellation due to funding uncertainty, including the possibility of a government shutdown…However, we are currently proceeding as planned with the Easter Egg Roll,” the official wrote in an email.

He is very vindictive and childish. He had demonstrated this on many occasions and it has no place in a President's actions.

Well if we don't have the funds for a few Easter eggs, I'm sure we don't have enough for the White House Correspondents Dinner on April 27th

Come to think of it, if the People of the United States can't visit the White House, whose tax dollars (well at least some of them) fund, then every extracurricular event should be cancelled.

Absolutely, but they won't be. The hypocrisy of Odumbo knows no bounds.

  8. “The President and his cabinet have agreed to pull the plug on this year’s Easter egg hunt,” explained Press Secretary Jay Carney. “It is just an unfair game, and it does not convey the type of equality that this country stands for. Some kids find two eggs, some kids find twenty, but when it’s over they all end up crying on the front steps of the White House,”

"Although surprising, an alteration of holiday festivities is all but unprecedented. Former President George W. Bush likewise altered the event back in the spring of 2003, when White House employees hid replica WMDs instead of eggs throughout the Presidential Gardens. Unfortunately, none of the children could seem to find them."
