Sterling

Discussion in 'Trading Software' started by Madhatter, Jan 10, 2008.

  1. Maybe the people that aren't having issues use a different quote server through their firm?

Or maybe sterling has a couple good servers and some garbage ones?

I am connecting directly to Sterling. And yesterday was a complete mess.

Completely froze up for a good 10 mins when Bernanke starting speaking. Then crapped out on me again when the CFC news broke.

Just can't handle any increase in volume.

Thanks to everyone for their comments.

What froze for 10 minutes? All your quotes? I saw some sticky ARB quotes during that time but that was about it...

There are several different quote feeds a firm can use... comstock and activ are 2 of them, I'm sure that could make a big difference... Also not every firm using sterling is connected in the same way... For example COGENT had a couple outages in the last few months... This made trading not possible for me for a couple hours overall.. This did not effect my peers @ Title Trading or EchoTrade.

Just re-enforcing the fact that the problem is not sterling's software itself, but likely the specific server you are on, your quote feed, or perhaps the backbone that your server is on...
